Gloss High Temp Paint
#1
Hi everybody.

I'm after some gloss high temp paint for the project. All I want is gloss black. Who should I see. I am looking at doing things like the exhaust, headers, waste gate pipe, dump pipe etc.

Other option is to HPC coat, but what does that look like on mild steel, and how much........

Hpc can cost more than paint but in the end you get what you pay for!
I have done headers and turbo housing in there Extreme coat which is a matt black coating over a chalky white , it chips easy but insulates like you wouldn't believe.i have used there gloss alloy look on cooler area's like exhaust ,( i believe it can be used on headers and turbo's too ) its very tough and keeps its looks in some pretty crappy conditions like mine sees.
i think the mild steel headers would last longer if internaly coated .

HPC coating is the way to go Graham it will cost more than paint but at least it is coated inside and out which alloy better flow through a smoother surface the guys that did my compleate headers charged me $150 in silver they swear on their mothers grave that the silver produces an amazing 1 HP more over black when asked how and why they couldnt answer it but they have proven it on identical systems on a dyno 1 in black and 1 in silver Regards Bill

Cool, thanks for that. Who is HPC coating in this part of the world, namely Sydney. Would look at doing headers, waste gate pipe and exhaust pipe after it is modified.

is hi-temp paint available by itself to do oneself, just paint it on or does it need to be cooked on.

Volvi, there is Hi Temp paint available . For most home users its not all that effective due to DYI surface preparation of the surface.

Depends if you simply want colour or other properties such as thermal barrier or for that matter increased thermal transfer and of course xttra corrosion resistance.

Trust me ,paints / protective coatings are a specialised science.
