Centre/Stand Gen 1

Hi, I am about to fit a factory centre/stand on my 99. I know the header/pipes need to be removed, but, are there any opinions on cornering or other issues with it fitted.

The only thing I needed to change on my '99 was the rear fairing section, everything else stayed in place....

I found this out when I took mine off . . . take off the radiator fan, undo the radiator(but don't remove and don't drain) to give you a bit more room and make it easier to loosen the headers(just loosen, no need to take right off). With back of the pipes undone you can lever the pipes out of the way enough with the standard pipes to take the centrestand off, so you should be able to put it on without having to remove everything.

The cornering clearance is slightly lessened on the left side, and it touches about the same time as the hero peg (the little knob under the footpeg) touches. The only time I really noticed it was serious 2up hooning, or track days. (PI- Turn 3 and siberia) If you didn't scape often before, you shouldn't notice any difference with clearance. When it did touch it didn't really upset the bike. I just used "climb off a little bit more" on the left if the corner got toooo sharp. RHS made no difference at all.

The centrestand was really handy, but I just liked the look more with that little bottom fairing bit on, so I've taken mine off again.

I'll post up a couple of photos in a day or two (pretty sure I have a couple of it fitted) Like I said before, very handy, I've done a track day with them fitted, bugger all loss of ground clearance. You just have to lose the little plastic fairing piece underneath.
