headshake sucks
#1
We changed the gearing on the missile to 16/40 for the drags. I rode it for the first time on the road and well, it sucks. I cracked the throttle in 4th, shorted to 5th, still no love. Smacked it in 6th and it was like a mad women shitting all over the place. The road was rough, but it was basically in a straight line, except for the slight curve. I hit 11000 in top but it felt like I was in a rodeo (not Holden).
It was then I decided that I'm going back to an 18 tooth countershaft. I hope my next report is better.
Anyone got any snaps?

Not sure if you had a headshake (like a very mild tankslapper) or were just riding on the bumpy road without having suspension ajusted accordingly?

shook when i rode it just when the front tire is skimming , thought the suspension set tight for trackdays may have had some influence , fork springs were wound all the way in , and probably not changed since because of the tight fit on the intercooler,
check wheel alignment, headstem bearing adjustment , tire pressures, to start with , and if not already fitted a 60 series tire will give more room and allow the suspension to be set more evenlt front to back

I removed the OEM Steering Damper & bunged on an Ohlins damper, used the original space for fitting a device that screams when it smells baconPi_tongue

Yeah guys, I drove over the same piece of road yesterday in my wife's shopping trolley. XR 8 tein suspension. 19s (new) at what shall we say, a rate of knots.
I have since reflected and established the following.
1. The road was a way lot shittier than I previously thoughtWm.
2. We did still have the front rock solid.
3. The straps actually did still have preload on them.
3. The arse has no preload on it.
4. That it is the first time in about 10 years I have gone that fast.
5. Maybe I'm a soft co#k!
The bike is currently at an exhibition on display. As soon as I get it out, I'll try a road a bit less like the Dakar.
But it still feels like riding my KTM 300 with that gearing.

Casino airfield is good for testing, if you can get to 191mph in the first 900m you can still stop before the grass , just don't miss seeing your marker , 200m later there is the creek and you have to dodge airfield markers in the long grass
Gets very light as you crest the rise in about 4th

It's all good. I'm trying to harden up for the clay pan.
Going to sort this out before the next meet at Casino. Wev'e got a ZZR to skin.
The wheel alignment is a fair coment. The swingarm is a private job, so we should ckeck everything out properly dimension wise. We threw it all together pretty quick to race it and didn't go through the motions.
Basically mounted everything and took it to the track. My job for Sunday.
I'm gonna mount the go pro for the next test. Stay tuned.
