AFTERMARKET SUSPENSION?
#1
Hi guys, I am looking at getting the suspension done on my bike.

I'm 115 kgs and from speaking to a couple of riders it looks like it will be beneficial to get the suspension done up to match my weight.

I am up in Brissy, does anyone know of somewhere good here to speak to? If not, is there somewhere interstate I can go to. I dont mind removing the forks if I have to.

Alternatively, if there are any guys here that have any ideas, i'm happy to hear em. Thanks alot.

Unless you are after bling or really ride the wheels of that thing then your best option is doing up the stock suspension. Have the front springs and valves upgraded to suit your weight and riding style. The rear should be ok as is if set up properly.

Dont be fooled into replacing either end with aftermarket parts unless that is what you are really lusting after, stock front and back can be setup far cheaper. If you have your heart set on replacing then talk to Ray his Elka rear is very good. Bruce

SamsVj i am 115 kgs, I have the Elka rear 3 way shock ( sprung for my weight) I had the front forks fitted with the Ohlins upgrade kit ,big difference in handling on track and road riding. It would cost approx $2650 for that setup. Cheers,

Standard front forks reshimmed with 1.05-1.1kg springs and good fork oil about $400,biketek.Next you could gold valve or ohlins valve, then ultimately ohlins forks.Stage 1 best bang for buck. For road the rear spring is okay but valving is average.I didn,t have much success revalving my vfr shock so i bought an aftermarket one which was massively better.Check if the rear can be successfully revalved/reshimmed first for a tight budget otherwise an aftermarket rear shock can give you greater adjustability for dampening, hydraulic preload, ride height and bling.Worst case scenario,do the forks first, they're way too soft for your weight. I am going to get my fronts done first. I dont think i will replace the whole thing, just the internals. I will make a decision after about wether i revalve and spring the back or if i should buy a new rear shock....
