Do you know how to get video footage from DV tapes (the stuff that was around in 2001-2007), onto a hard drive? What software can do it?

do you have a player for the DV tape whatever that is?
And does the player have outputs?
If so the outputs would then go into you computer and then record it somehow, but no I dont really know
and these links may help...

If you still have the camera and it has a video out like DJ said you can hook it up to the computer and copy it.
Do you still have the camera??
If so what video output does it have (eg usb, hdmi, av) ??
Let us know that and also the model of the camera and I should be able to run you through it.
If you did not want to do it yourself though here is an alternate for you - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-X-8mm-Hi-8-...eo_Cameras&hash=item3a7b3a92ac&_uhb=1#ht_5874wt_1139

Thanks guys.

The camera is a Canon MV300i
I have an AV output that I can plug into TV and watch on a bigger screen (yellow, black, red lines), but none for USB.
