starting problem

My road 99 won't start.
Battery is fully charged, but when you hit the starter theres a relay down the back clicking it tits off?
Starter motor won't engage.
Before I strip all the fairings off, and do even more damage - any ideas what that might be?

Try jump starting it before you rip fairings off.

if it starts the relay & starter motor are good.

If not it is most likely one of the 2 above.

If it does start check your charge rate with a multi meter.

That will get you going till the experts arrive on the scene.

Got one of those CTek chargers so guessed it was charging ok. What sort of voltage should show, and over how long should it keep the same voltage after you take the charger off?
Checked the terminals and they are tight. Should I take them off and clean them?
Thanks Maj!

Check cable where it bolts to starter motor and earth cable to motor as well. It's bolted to the engine near the starter motor.

Using your wrong thumb. Use the right one.

Try the battery from your track bike. Battery most probably dropped a cell.

Didn't you have issues starting it last time you were back?
That time you nearly ran out of fuel and had to get push started?

If you've had the C-Tek on it, my guess would be the battery has dropped a cell.
Need to load test it to verify, can't be done accurately with multimeter.

Put the jump start on (of course, it was flat and needed recharging) same problem.
So must be starter or the wiring to the starter.
Thanks guys - I'll give it a serious looking at this arvo!

Could also be relay too, at this point?
Can you bridge the relay and see if it winds over?
