I'm relieving as Master on Sea Swan which has unusual 'pulling' propellors - as different to convential propellors that 'push'. Similar to an aeroplane propellor which pulls the aircraft through the air. Each propellor is on the front of a pod which can rotate 360. Blades are fixed and are not reversing, so you rotate each pod where you need the thrust. To stop you thrust them both outwards. Picture shows sister ship, drawings show the pod.

Does it feel different from the conventional system?
What's the thinking behind it?

They reckon the propellor is always working in solid water, no cavitation?
Seems to work ok, just looks a bit different - no Skandi Hawk tho!

The ultimate in manouverability, the bow on that vessel is it an X-bow design??

Spot on!
X-bow is the Ulstein design name (Ulstein is owned by Rolls Royce). They work well in heavy seas and the ship is more comfortable, but they look like shit!

Think i would go for the comfort and handling even though your right, it looks very unconventional .
