D.I.Y Servicing.
#1
Hi Gang,
I'm new here, and am firing quite a few questions about. I hope this is ok with everyone. Nothing like a silly newbie question asked for the thousanth time to make an interesting forum eh ?

My bike will be due for it's first service in a couple of days. ( Picked it up Monday.... You do the math )
Anyway, my thought was that I would take it back to the selling dealer so they can ream me for the oil change and "tighten-up" of important componants. From there on, I am planning on doing them myself at 5,000 klm intervals. I don't have much experience servicing bikes, but I can change the oil and filter on a car and I'm sure I'll be able to remove the fairings, adjust/lube the chain after reading the book. I guess I'll need to buy a stand for that...

Is this kind of system pretty common, or do people think the dealer service is worth the money ? I will retain reciepts etc for warranty.
Regards to all...
