Brief recap and update on my rant from my last Action M/C visit.
That ended in the workshop telling me I needed new front disc, a new clutch and work on the forks that were making a knocking sound. This after a 50 metre test ride for wheel bearing work because the 'fuel light was on', (that's only 60km left), but really the guy was scared to ride it.
Anyway, disc and clutch are fine with plenty left, and that knock, I discovered this weekend after replacing my spark plugs, was from the sponge on the roof of the BMC air filter coming away and lodging itself in the airbox, (probably because I gave it a damn good washing a couple of months back).
No, I dunno why it makes a knocking noise (especially when cold), but the noise has gone now that I've removed the sponge, so that must be it because the forks are fine as well. Great to have the trouble free riding back... apart from the under-charging of course.
