Michelin to Recall Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 Front Motorcycle Tires

Melbourne, June 20, 2007 – Michelin has launched a campaign in Australia to recall a limited number (approximately 1000) of its Pilot Power 2CT and Pilot Power 120/70 ZR 17 front motorcycle tyres with “Made in France” markings. Some of our motorcycle owner customers outside Australia had experienced localised deformations which can occasionally result in sections of tread separating after sustained riding periods at very high speed of above 250km/h. An examination of these tyres showed a possible defect in the tread due to a manufacturing irregularity. No cases of pressure loss have been reported and no accidents have occurred.

Because customer safety is its primary concern, Michelin has decided as a precaution to replace the 120/70 ZR 17 Michelin Pilot Power 2CT and Michelin Pilot Power front tyres, which can be identified by the following markings on the sidewall:
- a “Made in France” label
- DOT 6UCW 980T or DOT 6UCW 979T

Customers with any of these tyres, should contact the following for information on this recall campaign:

Cheers Volvi. I will do that. I left a picture in the other thread that I'm sure you'll enjoy. I just added a bit of bling to her.

Any ideas as to when the offending tyres were released in AU????
I had a Michy on the front when I rode down from Bris. A bit of commuting in Bris & a ride to Melbourne & it was stuffed. Was wearing badly & very iregularly. I had it replaced with a Metzler M3 not long after I arrived in Melb.

Most likely unrelated, but thought I'd ask......
