As you all know that I am in the middle of moving from Sydney to Perth. I have decided to change my Busa for this move.
1) I sell my busa at a wholesale price ($6000) in Sydney and buy a 06 - 4600K for 11500/- in Perth.

2) I trade my Busa in Sydney ($7000) and get a 08 blue shipped to Perth for 17200/-

Now what are the recommendatioins....
What is best for a new 08 Busa!
Synthetic or Mineral to run it in.

The reason I ask is because my 82,000K GSX-R 750 has been running on Syntrhetic since I bought it with 38,000 on the clock. It is 11yrs old and last year on its 10th Birthday I thru a party and bought it a Dyno voucher for its Birthday presant.

Well she ran good. The Doc says she only poss lost 1 HP. I was pleasantly supprised. He also mentioned that the engine was still tight. I guess that was good.

So this being my first virgin, you know, I want to get it right the first time, sort of go easy on her.

Hi there,

Those of you that have followed this saga know that the bike died on me at the Snowy Ride at Thredbo. I've now got the bike home and have ripped the rear frame cover off to start having a look at what the issue may be.

I checked the voltage at the battery, it is running at about 11.8V when it is running, and drops away as the engine is revved, which tells me that the battery is supplying the load.

I have resistance checked across the three coils of the alternator and am getting 2 ohms across all three coils, and they are equal. I then did a no load check across the generator with all three poles reading 85VAC. The manual states better than 65VAC across all three poles.

I noticed that the plug between the reg/rec and the rest of the bike (Alt voltage comes in and charging voltage goes out the same plug) is a bit melted on one pin. I checked continuity through the plug and it is all ok. The plug is on the bike side, not the reg/rec side.

However I am still only getting 11.8V on the battery when running. Testing is being conducted at 5000rpm.

Can anybody help me out here. I am thinking that the reg/rec is defective but I'm not sure. Spewzuki want $400 for a new one so I want to be sure I need to replace it. May also try Metro for one.

I need some serious help here. I've just changed my fuel filter. I got about 1 km up the road and it just quit, (hard walk back). After pulling it apart and putting it together again I discovered that with the tank in the upright service position, the bike runs. Immediately I thought "Ahhh, a fuel line must get kinked when I lower the tank". No shit, I tried everything to no avail. I even kinked both lines by hand while the tank was up. The bike still ran! As I let go of the lines and carefully lower the tank even half way down, the engine stops! There is about 5 litres of fuel on board. I then thought "I must have the lines crossed around leading from the tank to the pump". But one of them is slightly larger and longer than the other so that couldn't be. Just to make certain, I ask those here who know. There is a fitting on the bottom of the tank and the line from that should go to the bottom inlet on the fuel pump, while the other connects to a standard opening also under the tank :undecided:and goes to the top inlet of the fuel pump. Is this correct? I'd be grateful for any assistance with my problem, all I have to get around in is a Ford Festiva. I can nearly run faster than the silly looking thing!

Hello to all. From what I read here I am far from the only enlightened one able to see the virtues of such a magnificent bike. My name is Scott and I have owned an '83 Katana 1100 since '86 but it has been off the road for 5 years waiting for me to get around to rebuilding her. The rebuild isn't looking likely soon so time for a new bike while waiting and what better than the current day Katana!

If I can get there after work I should pick up my white 09 tomorrow - Can't wait. Test rode an '08 (and a '99 some years ago) and it fitted like a glove. Plenty of nice roads here on the Sunshine Coast too so I will see some of you there I bet.

Stay safe, see you out there.
