Ok I thought I'd bury my pride Lol3 and post up here because I couldn't be stuffed going out and buying another tool for the job

Last time I adjusted my chain I seem to have tightened it too tightly for my own good. Now trying to adjust it again it's bolted on solid and won't budge.

Any tips on loosening the axle bolt with just the standard tool supplied in the kit?

P.S Tried a bit of lubrication but KY doesn't seem to do the trick.

Try your local garage, they could back it off with a big spanner and then tighten it using the tool (plastic toy) in the tool kit.

Get a piece of old gal water pipe about 600 ml long & fit it over the shank of the wheel nut spanner, gives more "purchase".

You could always slip down to Repco and buy a 36mm ring spanner with a decent reach on it, but, being an axle nut you are tentioning I suggest a decent torque wrench, doesn't have to be state of the art, and most have a decent throw on them so a little bloke like you wont bust-a-gut getting the thing undone and re-tentioned.

I bought a ring spanner from Super Cheap to fit for $40.00.
The equivalent Sidchrome one was $80.00.
They are both made from the same material.
Mate,

A cheap torque wrench from Super = $20 (or go for the sping loaded one at around $50) plus 36mm socket $40, then you will have something you will use all the time - and no chance of stripping threads on aluminium parts or the sump plug by overtightening.

Im much happier on a 300km/h bike knowing that the bolts are all done up correctly.

The toolkit spanner is a last resort, 72ft.Lb torque with that baby is an exercise in self mutilation.

Ive used the handle off my hydrolic jack, worked lose very easily and made the job to easy! Pi_thumbsup
