THE 7TH OF NOVEMBER

The ride for childrens cancer is apon us.
at this stage i'm in. checked their web site a couple of days ago and info hasn't been released yet- mid June i think. Is there something that the club usually does- meet at a certain place (pub?), stay at a certain motel etc. if so i'll work around that.

cheeky

i have booked as of eight months ago

what made me want to go again was the main doctor from childrens cancer stood in front of a crowd of 500.
Then he pronounced that due to motor bike riders from the money they gave to the research of childhood cancers that they would not have found a cure to some childrens illnessess.

long story kids
err....

ummmm...............
the web site isnt always up to date.
We booked in for this year, when we were at last years Snowy Ride.

I have been for the last three years and each year it just gets bigger and better. To see more than 2500 bikes and even more people plus the variety of bikes in one place is amazing. Generally there is a high Police presence, but unless your are being a complete tool, they leave you alone.

Too see the look on the kids faces is enlightening. It doesn't matter what you have going on in your life, it is mild to a child going through cancer and its treatment, yet a simple thing as a weekend away, maybe a ride in a helicopter nd on a motorcycle lights up their faces.

The variety of prizes that are raffled off aren't too bad either.....the major prize, a Honda Goldwing can always be sold to buy a couple of Hayabusa's Lol3
I'm booked in for this run.
I know that a few others from Newcastle are on the list as well.

DjPete

u never know.
If Im not working.
The 3 days at Jindy is just too hard at that time of yr for me so this is a chance at least...and a great cause as well....:-((

due to motorbike riders they had the research money to find a cure for one childhood leaukemia..

the doctors where scratching their heads a few years a go with a theory.
and no funding.then a motorcycle group came along and said here is is $250 grand....

the doctors went to work with that money an found a cure...

Whilst the money that has been raised by motorcyclists for child cancer research is great I do not believe that a cure for childhood leaukemia has been found.

I am happy to be proven wrong if you can direct me to any relevant medical publications that state a cure for childhood leaukemia has been found.
Sounds like a worthy cause & has a decent turnout of bikes for the event. A few busa riders have and are going but seem to do their own thing as far as accomodation goes. Shame really cause the Jindy Snowy ride appears to be dead as an annual get together & this would be an ideal Busa Club get together & a charity ride in one of the nicest parts of Oz.

cheeky

as i said in the above post they found a cure for ONE childhood luekemia..

i was in the crowd last year when the dudes that deal with this announced that fact.

just quoting the speacialists.. you can ask them if you like

why would they say it if it wasnt true and in such a public forum?
hmmm i do wonder

anywhoooooo we dont need this type of stuff on this thread..

just promoting a great ride and great cause .

im told there are quite a few going from this forum.just letting the rest of you lot know
Yes it is a great cause and should be a terrific weekend.
There will be lots of club members there and it will be great to see all the busas on the road.
Sometimes it is just as much fun to see a bike going the other way as all trooping along together.

Medical research marches on every day but it is the financial support that bikers supply that boosts the confidence of the researchers and keeps them at it.

The Ulysses club has financially backed research into a cure for Arthritis for many many years and sometimes it appears that no progress is made but the research foundation assures us that without our support they would probably have made no real breakthroughs at all. With the support they receive they have made huge inroads into understanding the cause.

I am sure the same applies to the Cancer council and other worthy charities that we all support when we can.

Anywhooooooooo, you put this type of stuff on this thread. I was just asking for some medical clarification.

I was also in the audience last year and nothing was mentioned about them finding a cure for ONE childhood leaukemia, there was one child that did however go into remission and hopefully there are more this year.

I will be here again this year to support this worthy cause.

For those that are considering going, the best idea is to call and book accomodation now if staying in Thredbo......as it fills up fairly quickly. We booked whilst we were there last year so we didn't miss out or have stay too far away.

cheeky

i must of been at another speech. Undecided
anyway this isnt a big problem.i ve posted this thread in good will.
Smitten

yes staying in threadbo is certainly at great idea.we stayed at banjo,s and i can highly reccomend them.Clap

for those that havent been before.
speeches ,presentations and giftwear and raffles and a band are held at thredbo..
its a good idea to stay there because of the band and you can have a drink or three without worrying getting back to another town.there wasnt a bus as far as i knew but i could be wrong.(dont shoot me)Knuppel2Police

however this year we are staying in jindy with our group of mates.its fairy cracking there and central.

the pubs are chockkers and plenty to see and do. thredbo gets pretty expensive ie food wise if your cooking for yourselves.alot of people buy stuff in jindy and carry it on their bikes the 30 odd k's to thredbo.

booked our acc last year ,places fill up fairly quickly.
rides are organised saturday or you can do your own thing.like drink and play cards.hehehPi_thumbsup
