Been quoted $280 for 12k service on Gen2 with mineral oil. What sort of price has anyone else paid?

Also told by shop that Suzuki don't recommend use of fully synthetic oil as it can lead to issues with back torque limiter clutch and oil consumption. Thoughts on this?

Shop also recommended changing the iridium plugs ($25 ea) even though Suzuki recommended interval is at 24k. Thoughts?

Dunno about Gen 2, but plugs get replaced on a Gen 1 at 12000km service.

i've been quoted from two different shops $450 - $750.

$280 is a bargain .
The iridium plugs on a K2 bike are good for at least 24k.
I did 30k and they were still firing as good as new but changed them anyway.

The bike will probably use more oil if you go full synthetic. I suggest you stick with the oil recommended in the handbook for road use.
Plugs on my k2 were changed at 24000 Busgo, hurt a bit when I picked her up. Was $630 odd for the service but it was a combination of 18k and 24k service.
Once past initial bed in ............. synthetics the go especially for high temp and load applications. Synthetics also a cleaner product (no rocks)Coolsmiley As for using "more" oil if your running synthetic Wtf

Same for clutch? I've just thrown in a brand new clutch and was going to switch to full synthetic after about 500km.
The only issue has been claimed that because Synthetic does it's job so well that due to this it's best to let motor wear in for at least 5 K before running Symthetic oil in the motor ............... clutch plates no issue as long as you don't get an incompatible mix between certian brands. ie Oil composition against clutch materials used.

$280? Depends on what oil? plug change etc?.
Suzuki are just covering their arse re: Syn' oils! I wouldn't use minerals on my bikes or my customers. EG: I ran my Gen11 in on my Dyno' (12klms on the clock) dumped the oil & went straight to a full synthetic. changed regularly at 3-5 thou klms, never burnt a drop!. Mostly open road riding and I didn't spare the whip!.
Change the plugs at 24k, Iridiums are designed to run to 100k in late model cars, have seen them go further in some v6 engines where some mechanics couldn't be bothered pulling the intake manifold off to change the back row!wtf.
If u take ur bike to a Dealer, be prepared to pay the big dollars.

Its a piece of you know what to do your own service but if your bike is new and you want to keep warranty well it sucks how they rip you off.
As for the 12000k service I have know idea what they want to rip you off but when I had a busa and got the first service I was quoted from the shop I bought the bike from $300.
So I phoned Mud n tar Suzuki it cost me $147.00. I should have bought the bike off them.
You need to shop around get the best price and ask them what you are getting for your money. They will just change oil and filter. Filter if your lucky make sure you put a mark on the filter so you can check that its been replaced and adjust chain and just check bike over thats it.
I have always ran a synthetic/mineral blend (in the Gen1) but I do change oil and filter every 5000km. Ran fully synthetic once when I crossed the continent then went back the the blend mix. I also run standard plugs ($5 - $6each) and these get changed every 5000km also. 150,000km's on and I still have a very strong engine that has had NOTHING done to it. Total cost is a little over $100 and a couple of hours of my time.
Agreed that a new bike has warranty issues etc etc.
Just for Info': New vehicles (inc' bikes) under warranty can be serviced by any licensed mechanic in a licensed workshop premises. This will not affect ur warranty, even if they don't use genuine parts!. If u need to make a warranty claim then it must go through an authorised dealer, they cannot legally reject a warranty claim on the grounds that it has been serviced by a non authorised dealer/workshop, providing that the maintenance schedule has been kept up to date.
If for eg: an engine shits itself under warranty and the vehicle has been serviced by ur local mechanic and the cause of failure is unknown and it becomes a warranty claim and the dealer/manufacturer refuses the claim because an (say) aftermarket oil filter is used.
They, the manufacturer/dealer, has to prove without doubt that the said aftermarket oilfilter was responsible for that engine failure. If proven beyond doubt that the aftermarket oilfilter was at fault, then the insurance co. for the aftermarket oilfilter must pay for damages.

Thanks for the advice. I'll stick with the dealer to keep the warranty and they'll lend me a bike as well so can't fault that.

I'll also keep the plugs but go to fully synthetic oil.I rang another local dealer and they're $100 dearer.

Same price I'm paying each non-major service. I was advised not to go Synthetic until 10k which I didn't. Haven't used the iridium plugs, stock items seem to go well enough and f****d if I'll pay $25 for a sparker. That's just plain crazy talk.
