Trouble with the BUS, an 01-K1
Symptoms:
Below 7000 rpm all is well, roll on, slight or full throttle openings.

Once 7000rpm is on the scale the motor bogs down, wont rev.

There is no backfire through the exhaust or inlet.

The engine is not missing, the inlet is roaring but the revs wont climb.

I tried with the bike in neutral and riding in all the gears,

Same problem,7000Rpm and it wont go,especially on full throttle
openings.

The only way to get it above 7000 is to roll on very gently,
definitely wont rev when the throttle is opened over halfway.

I have done 1000km dosing the fuel with injector cleaner.

I removed the fuel pump and cleaned the filter.

Checked the fuel pressure 42psi.

balanced the throttle bodys.

Reset the tps.

Checked for fault codes,none present!

REplaced the spark plugs.

The coils dont look like there is any tracking on them.

The air box is standard, the air flap is operating correctly.

The engine idles very smoothly.

I have pipes,K&N & a Tri fitted.

It used to go really well.

Has anyone had this happen?

Any ideas please?
Odds on bet you either have the clutch switch bypassed or it's faulty ............. thanks Maj Pi_thumbsup
You say fuel pressure checked ............. what about fuel pump volume ? Coolsmiley
For payment if prob solved...................... send a donation to the Salvos Welcome
You say fuel pressure checked ............. what about fuel pump volume ? my guess too ....
What is your pressure at the 7k rpm
I have some 01 1k fuel stuff here as i replaced my fuel system with high volume external pump etc when i fitted the turbo to mine .

Ok, nothing bypassed yet, however i will bypass the clutch switch to see if that illiminates the problem.
If that wont work I am going to clean and flow injectors as a precaution.

If those two dont help the problem,I will check pump volume

Thanks for the tips guys.
I had the identlcal problem with my busa!! I disconnected the TRE and reconnected the factory couplings again and guess what, problem solved the bike has run perfectly ever since. What brand TRE do you have? Mine is a geartronics. Maybe the 2001 ecu s' don"t like the TRE s', in any case try it out and let us know donovandon100. Cheers

Ok, thanks, its a GIPRO,I did mount it in a different spot, almost vertical just under the screen, maybe the guts have been shaken out of it as I notice they seem to be designed to be mounted flat.
Ok off to the shed now!
Someone warn the neighbours there is going to be a lot of cursing and revving soon.
No Don't by pass the switch .............. that WILL give you the problem as the ECU thinks bike is in clutch in condition full time. Knuppel2

Ok,tried this, started bike, clutch must be in or wont crank, switch is operating, rev up till flat spot occurs and hold it there, disconnect the wires from the clutch lever,no difference, switch off bike and try restart,no go until wires are reconnected.

Set GI PRO to zero value, and try,no good.
Disconnect GI PRO and connect wiring as per standard bike, still no go.

By passed IAT sensor using a Nitro X Fuel Commander,no good.
Checked for vac at IAT & AP sensor vac ok.
Checked TP sensor and it is good, voltage, resistance etc.
Checked resistance on injectors ok.
Removed injectors and going to clean and check flow,
They look spotless like the rest of the intake system.
Have not checked fuel pressure or flow at 7000 yet,
need to borrow my mates master fuel pressure tester tomorrow.
Saga continues.
flog the wifes measuring jug and stick the fuel outlet hose into it power the pump for 30 secs and see what volume of fuel flows in that time ? From memory you should get around 450 Ml in 30 secs
Dono, Internal or external pump
there internal, pretty much interchange with the 01-07 busa

Jesus H. Christ! Pete, it's 458ml per 30 seconds, not 450!Coolsmiley

Does sound like fuel volume doesn't it. As opposed to fuel pressure.

Internal Pump.
Will check the pump volume tonight.
Thanks.
Fuel volume is 275 and 300ml in 30 sec!
I powered the fuel pump directly from the battery.
I read in the manual that there is an internal Filter on the pump?
I have removed the pump and cleaned the pick-up strainer.
Is there another filter inside the pump housing that can be cleaned or replaced?
The injectors will be back tomorrow.
Bingo .................. half required volume basically
The filter is above pump ................ they are around $400 new.........Scary
The filter can be brought seperate but the pump only comes as a complete unit with filter. Problem is if you put a new filter on and then find it's not the filter as in it's a worn pump ............... your screwed.
Have second hand pump n filter here and I think Greg allready mentioned he has also
