Very late as per usual. Im now going nuts so have decided to go for a ride starting tomorrow 3/1 and back in Sydney Thur or Fri this week.

Plan is from Sydney to Gingers Creek (via thunderbolts Way) and then maybe further north to Tenterfield? Any recommendations on routes with interesting roads and destinations? The other option is to go to Armidale and Waterfall Way.

Im going solo so can cover lots of ground. Any suggestions?

Cheers

Not sure which way u want to go out of Sydney? Putty rd, Singelton, Gloucester, Wingham, Taree, Oxley hwy, Gingers Creek, Walcha, the back way to Armidale, Dorrigo, drop in to Cafe Del Fuego (worlds smallest m/c museum) have a coffee with owner, Juan, tell him I sent ya'!! then down Waterfall way to the Pacific Hwy, track South to Macksville, give me a call (pm sent) we can have a beer at the Star and if u want to stay o'nite, no prob's. Enjoy the ride whatever way u go!

I concur with the above, but come in from Dorrigo to Nymboida. Tight twisties and errant car drivers but an awesome ride.

Hi Tex,

I was thinking of Putty rd, Gloucester, Walcha, Wauchope, Bellingen, Armidale then back to Sydney.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will give you a call when I have mastered Google Maps and get an idea of schedule.

Cheers

Steven
The Oxley is about as good as it gets at the moment. Did 3 full hill runs on Sunday. They have just completed some resurfacing between the roadhouse and the top of the mountain. Not yet line marked but well swept. The new section from the bottom is exceptionally good for about 10ks and the rest is surprisingly good considering the rainfall last year. If you would like some company let me know. I never need much of an excuse to do a Gingers run. Met up with 3 Sydney blokes and they stayed at the Royal Cafe in Walcha. Quite a tidy setup. The bloke to speak to at the Cafe is Brad on 67771117. Gary at Gingers does a Good deal with accommodation and meals as well, Paul.

Folks,

This is what I plan to do;

http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?msid=2...7,2.705383

Depending on the time I may go further North.

Paul, probably will be at Walcha on Wed. If you are interested in a ride SMS (Ive PMd you) and I will give you a call.

Cheers
Have a gr8 trip Steven. Beware the Bucketts Way and Thunderbolts right now. Lot's of rain damage up this way but you can avoid the worst if you take it easy.
Arrived at Walcha after a very late start ( can I squeeze one long trip out of the tyres or new ones beforehand??). I forgot how good Thunderbolts Way is, even with the rain damage which was minimal. Beautiful country and great roads.

I am staying at the Caravan park in Walcha which is reasonable(56 for a cabin) and very helpful owners. Just finished dinner at the Apsley Arms with some very nice local red ( wine not girl).

Grt ride so far. Gloucester is good but going the extra along Thunderbolts is fantastic - highly recommended.

Doing the Oxley tommorow with Paul.
Returned back from up north having covered 2100km in 3 days.

What a great ride. For anyone who has not been to Gingers Creek (Oxley Highway), it is a must do ride. The Waterfall way (Belligen to Armidale) is also fantastic. Avoid the Pacific Highway south of Coffs - very slow and boring.

Thanks to Tyronm and Cynthia for the hospitality and for great riding. Also thanks to Tex, Jenn and of course Bundy for looking after me as well. A great bunch of people and fantastic club support.

My only incident on the whole trip was on my return to Sydney and a stopover at Gloucester. The short of it is I had some idiot continually slam the front door of his work 4WD into the front of the Busa because I parked in what I thought was access to the rear of the hardware store but was apparently part of Gloucester Tyre and Battery Services forecourt. Luckily nothing was broken and my fairings are not showroom condition anyway.

Hopefully nothing will come from it, but it did put a dampener on the
last part of an otherwise exceptional trip.

Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it. If you are up this way again let us know. Doing another couple of blasts up gingers tomorrow. All the best, Paul.
