hi,

i hate those big stock pipes and want to put those voodoo short tips on with a fender eliminator.

Is this just a waste of time and money in wa?

Anyone in this state get around un harrassed with a modded busa?

Advice appreciated

cheers
Hi stonedpirate most of us guys and gals on here have modded our bikes in some respect so I reckon go for it..

I have a Yoshi 4-2-1, Suzuki FE from the States and last time I was pulled up all I got was nice bike, licence check and sent on my way but I must admit that I have never had happen what Kylie had happen.

Even when group of us was pulled over not so long ago for speeding nothing was even mentioned about the bikes, we got a polite lecture on speeding and asked to slow it up and then sent on our way..so it really comes back to you.

Goin Do It you know you Want Toooooooo..Yes

yea I agree wit Rev here mate... what happened to Kylie I really hope is a 1 of.....
Most of us havn't experienced that sort of blaintent abuse.

From what I understand, slip on's are fine, as long as their under the DB rating.
A gen 2 technically needs to keep its Cat because it was released wit one.

So your voodoo short tips should by all accounts be fine!

Us folks with full systems just hope the coppers don;t know what their looking at or talking about!

My Gen II looks stock. Therefore it must be stock.Coolsmiley
Cheers guys.

Does anyone know if the loss of back pressure from using slipons cause major poer loss? I heard on one forum that backpressure is a thing of the past and modern engines dont need to worry about it.

I am planning to just use an exhaust tip with a baffle and ecu flash with air intake mod.

Will that kill my performance?

Need to learn more about it before i order :)

Also, does taking the cans off and running with no exhaust hurt the engine? I just want to hear what it sounds like before i commit to short tips.

Cheers

Ahem, it was allegedly speeding. Plus the poor sods sphincter would have been twitching faced with the best part of thirty bikes!

Concur on Kev's suggested FE and the Yoshi exhaust system can be within the legal requirements, as my document from Yoshi in the US shows.

Some of the pipes around are obscenely loud and those using them deserve to get nicked!

If you can fit FE's and slip-on's then you wouldn't consider WA a nanny state if you'd ever been to SA.

The only people that probably object are those of a well "experienced" age who may still receive some type of humane treatment.

You will get defected on the spot for any FE or aftermarket product if stopped by an officer from the traffic enforcemenf section. Their favourites include the "go's without saying" FE, Power Commanders (or any aftermarket EMS), Aftermarket MC's e.g. Brembo and I have also been defected for a tinted screen as it may impede my vision of the gauges.. yeah ok. Rearsets with fixed pegs are also evil.

Most TES officers will defect ANY modified bike and would like to see any non-OEM product fitted rendered a defect.

Belzy, I've spent 10's of thousands in court for what I consider trifling matters and they won't give credence to any US document regarding your muffler. Each Yoshimura muffler/exhaust is sold locally for "racing use only" regardless of any baffle insert. Take a look at any Suzuki Motorcycles Australia advert that features a Yoshimura product (generally as a special offer inclusion) and it will have "not legal for road use" in fine print on the bottom of the page.

If WA is the nanny state, then SA is the fascist state.
Your Dead right M . They tend to leave me alone as I'm Old ( more experienced )& I Look innocent ,But have been chatted re the 4 to 1. Nothing came of it as the nice officer saw my point of view.
that sux

i'm young and look guilty :p
Half your luck Greeny. He probably lost his job after.. lol.
I grew up in NSW and as a young bloke used to get harassed by the cops all the time. They never cut you any slack and I hated their guts. They even bashed me one night for no reason. I used to get defected all the time. They really are PIGS over there.
So when I moved to WA I had the opinion that all cops were shit, but having lived here for 20 years now, I find the cops here could teach the eastern state cops some manners. Over here I find it comes down to how you approach them. If you are already on the back foot when they pull you over then you will probably cop it. But if you show them respect then most are good blokes. Like Rev I have had the cops comment on how good the bike looks.
I think we are lucky here compared to other states in my opinion.
Yep, there's good ones and bad ones. I first got my bike licence in Qld at the age of 17 about four years before the Fitzgerald inquiry swept through the Qld police force and ministries. There were some real bastards around. Never got flogged up like some of my mates (I'm the opposite of petite?) but copped (!) serious harrassment and verballing.

But on the other hand, some of them were absolute gems, really knew how to inspire and empower wayward young fellas. They were good cops and if you gave them any lip, they'd take you thirty kays out of town and let you ponder the error of your ways while you walked back to civilisation.
The Qld cops don't seem to worry about mods at all - well, the ones in Cairns, anyway.

I didn't think modes rode.
Or do they AXE?

Axe

no point modding it if you don't ride it... and vice versa.....
