I want to plan a trip to the Isle of Man TT.
Guess a package deal is the obvious choice; I'd rather not - but it seems too hard to do starting with a blank sheet of paper.
Anyone done one of these recently, any info or advice?
Rob
We rented a great old house at Laxey for a month for about 400 quid/week. Booked it early via the net. It slept 6 people. Top old bloke lent us a gsx125 for the month and had a bloody ball. Hire cars through Athol hire in the capitol Douglas are cheap and hassle free. We used the island as a base and took the ferry accross to Ireland and Scotland each for a few days. If you hang back on the isle for a time after the racing the locals absolutely spoil you rotten. On the advice of the locals next time we will go over for the manx gp in August. Better weather and apparently an even better event then the TT. If you do take in the GP the post TT races on the street circuit at castletown are bloody good to watch. Can't wait to go back. If you are deadset keen let me know and i will pm you with the details of the Cottage at Laxey. All the best, Paul.
How many busa's can fit on your boat ? Captain Rob & What's a tank of Juice worth .

Quick calculation we can get 900 Busa's on deck and 750,000 litres should fill it up. Why? Have you got a plan?

That's great info. I can't get away for a month tho. Would 2 weeks be enough time?

Enough time to watch the races however even if you put it off to the following year so as you had at least a month up your sleeve would be the best advice that I could give. Firstly it is a bloody lot of flying for a 2 week trip and there is so much there to see and do. On top of that once you are there the cost of living is much the same as here. 2 weeks would be better than nothing however it will take that long to recover when you get home. You will have a blast no matter what, Paul.

I am going to the TT next year but only for a few days, I too would like some advice on where to book. I will be wingwalking first in York then going over to the TT.

If you drink, and have a good time as well, and like bikes going fast then we should be harmonious!
It's very hard for me to predict whether I will be on leave or working. I'm a self employed ship captain and pretty much have to take whatever jobs come up. Can you give me a call on 0400 16 15 14 when you get a chance and we can kick it around? Rob
I've been once, but that was years ago, however....

My dad has been for the last two yrs running.
I will msg him today and get a list of details etc.
He lives in Brissy.

He did it this way:
Went 1st yr, hired a car, had a ball, got home bitched about it to the point of me nearly cutting my wrists.
Result:
He bought a Ducati Multistrada S with the works from none other than Paul Smart! Paul delivered it to our home in Scotland for no extra charge. (the bike was a steal too, and beyond showroom :) )
Got there this yr, stayed at the same house in Douglas, rode around the IOM, scotland and europe for 4 weeks, got home, said im too old for this but had a ball. (55yrs old hahahaha, hardly old enough....)
Now he's planning next year BWAHAHAHAA

This year was a bit busier for him though as we were working there teamed up with Wilson Craig racing, taking care of our mate CAMERON DONALD :)

That is a big adventure!!
We went in 2009 and are going again next year.
Our B&B is already booked and is the way to go. The Isle of Mann website has accommodation vacancies for hotel and B&B, we also hired a triumph bonnie for 2 days with all the gear while we were there.
Next year we are buying or hiring 2 bikes and riding around Europe then catching the ferry over and staying for 2 weeks.
Don't even think about camping, I still remember getting washed out one year. Always be ready for crap weather.
