Anyone like to comment on RaceTech suspension mods?
I'm about to fit goldvalves and correct springs for my weight, and i thought i should find out if the recommended valving usually works out well or are further changes needed to get it right?????

I had the racetech and valves on my zzr1100 a small difference, I would go for the Ohlin springs and valve much better, but when you fit the front up it will make the rear feel it needs doing also.

My thoughts exactly Ray, i hate the front and back feeling different same as with my tyres if i use a Bridgestone on the front it'l be the same brand on the rear.
Just thought i;d check on the racetech stuff before i fit them ,most times you do something like this and the day after you finish someone says "oh would have done better to do it this way! "
Bit late to be thinking of Ohlins , the racetech stuff arrived 2 weeks ago, though i might be swayed if i found a cheap ohlins rear shock <i></i>

Sorry mate, I thought you were still in the market for springs. I would go the 15w oil,will be harder but when you dive into a corner it feels better , the shocks around arnt cheap you can get Ohlins for approx $1500.

Have had race tech in both my bikes both front and rear, difference is excellent if u want more traction and cornering agility from your bike, tyre life is dependant on how hard you ride. I have ohlins on my streetfighter bandit but i did it more for looks. The performance gains would be more fruitfull if you where racing with it (which i have tried on another bike, excellent traction and stability) but unless your a fast rider you won't benefit much from it. My brother can keep with me on his 91' gsxr750 with stock susp, and motor and this things done 100k and blowing smoke. ( mind you we both do sub 43's at the creek and experience does make a difference) but all in all for the price of a rear ohlins you can get more bang for buck in doing both front and rear.

Don't waste your money, racetech is as good as you need for every day riding.....

Thats what i wanted to hear(read).I put a kit through my old 595 daytona and it made a huge difference but the Triumph needed it more than the Suzuki does.
I decided i wanted better handling when on the way to the GP we took a detour up to Falls Creek and i had a couple of frontend slips, doesn't do much for the confidence . <i></i>

Oops..... dunno how I did that

I had my suspension done by Franko Pons at Biketek and he did a first rate job. The suspension works really well but is still compliant and comfy. I commute every day, tour a fair bit and do the odd track day. As I do a lot of crappy roads in the country, I didn't want to lose any suspension compliance. Now, the only adjustments I ever need to make is the odd click of damping and winding up the hydraulic preload adjuster when loaded up with gear and the missus.

Despite being an agent for Racetech, Frank talked me out of fitting Gold Valves. I had already decided on an Ohlins rear and he also fitted Ohlins springs to the front to match and reshimmed rather than using Racetech valves. He said that the Gold Valves may make the Busa too choppy.

The front springs are about 25% firmer than stock and the rear spring is softer than stock. Front fork oil is now 5 weight and 115 mm from the top instead of the standard 98 to give a bit less progression. With the heavier front springs I now use much less damping, but still don't get too much dive under hard brakes. No chatter and great feel.

Frank got the suspension perfect first time. One really good sign is that the damping settings I ended up using are right in the middle of the adjustment range. My previous bike, a GSXR1100, had the same suspension mods done at a different place and the font forks had to come out 5 times and they still weren't right. I was so pleased that Biketek proved to know their stuff. Frank has done quite a few GSXRs and generally reshims the Suzis rather than using Racetech stuff. I think he may use the Racetek valves for track bikes where compliance and comfort is less of an issue.

Haven't had anything to with Biketek,but it looks like your getting good service from them. My dealings have being with Terry at ShockTreatment.he's happy to pass on tips to get the best when doing it yourself and answered a lot of questions .
All i need now is some time so i can fit the mods and try them out,
