Headlight modulator.
Turn it on/off when you need it.
Certainly wakes people (dickheads) up!
Not expensive, easy to install, included in the current Motor Vehicle Regulations, so they're legal. (I carry a photo copy because a lot of cops still don't know about them - but only been questioned 4 times in 3 years Australia-wide)
Info on the 'net, and available on eBay.

Headlight modulators are legal in every state and territory of Australia. The NSW legislation is as below and every other state has the same wording in their respective legislative narratives.
Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 1998
Schedule 4 Vehicle standards
Division 2 Headlights
(3) A motor bike may be equipped with a headlight modulation system that:
(a) varies the brightness of its high-beam headlight or low-beam headlight, but not both, at a rate of at least 200 and at most 280 flashes a minute, and
(b) is designed to operate only in the daylight.
i use hid,s 8000 the blue colour i ride every day & over the past 4years i,ve only had a hand full of cars change lanes on me

all running lights ,head lights, bright clothing in the world is never going to make any difference. Assume that the numpties in the cages have not seen you, are not going to see you, in all probability are not even looking to see you in the first place and ride accordingly. Staying safe has far more to do with attitude than how visible you are. Just take it that they are all out to get you.
