Anyone out there doing anything re the planet.
Anyone give a f***?
Curious..

I've had solar on the roof for over 2 yrs now. I have a meter by my desk.
It gives me great pleasure knowing I am doing my little bit.

For eg today
Around $6.50 back into the grid today. Will take around $4 to run elect tonight, that leaves about $2.50 profit for the day.
In other words I had FREE electricity all day and night and made a few dollars profit as well.
Without pollution.
I love solar.
I recycle as best I can.
I don't have kids so my power bills are low.
I do what I can.
If I drive a gas guzzler or have 2 bikes then I'm ok with that.
I work hard so I want my toys.
I do care about the future however I won't stop living to preserve it.
I do enough.
Yeah, Greenies love me....

You make one mistake Tony, they never forget, :-)

changed all my globes, have one of those free powerboards that switches all power off for tv, theyre good.
Had 3 fridges. 2 in garage, only one on now and on low.
Changed all down lights to led, big difference.
I wish they had have told us they were not efficient when they were orig installed, anyway.
Biggest killer for me is the girls, no idea.
Light goes on but never goes off. What is it about that?

We separate plastics etc too, I think most people do now which is good.
It still amazes me the amount of crap packaging everything has to have, a big waste I reckon.
We still have a long way to go.

Anyway all those changes have made a huge difference.

oh and my old hyundai tuscon v6 used to get 14l to 100k. Got a new Ix35 and it's a 4 cyl, goes great and gets 10/100 around town and 8/100 on a trip which is awesome
Don't confuse ecology conscious with Greenie please...

I hate those fockers with a passion... Small minded bigots that have no idea what the f*** they are on about...

While understanding what s and isn't good for our planets sustainment is a must Greenie tend to jump on the latest trendy chant that is sticking it to the man while ignoring any positives the man might do..

I saw once that at a Greenie march over 1000 people happily signed a petition to ban manufacturers from expelling Di-hydrogen Monoxide into our rivers and oceans ... Fukking stupid twats

Mmmm maybe I am racist? Is Greenie a race?
get it out Batfink. :-)

so anyway, do you do anything?
My electricity bill works out about $75 per day. All used at peak times early am and late pm. Would never be worth trying solar for me.
i have emptied my sump oil in the old fish pond which had been filled with soil, for around 15 yrs now , and i still have to cut the grass in the old fish pond , looks like the oil is a good fertilizer. And love those big wind mills that cost more to run than the energy they produce..
Pete, I do my best with a teenager in the house lol
Would prefer if they emptied recycle bin each week and general rubbish each second week to make people recycle more.... But then again the council here wastes most of non metal recycled stuff anyway the idiots

Looked into solar but the ones down here need to be UV angels not IR ones.. That makes them friggin expensive and the "carbon footprint" (see I can use catch phrases too lol) to make each panel is worse than the foot print for making the power they replace. Also Tassie is 98% hydro electric so technically all our power is green... But for f*** sake don't tell the Feds cause they hit our power with the shame BS carbon tax as everyone else

For real power savings don't let designers or trends guide you.. A standard house can reduce its consumption by up to 40% with no real change.. We have dropped our power bill (with electric heating) by 12% over past year while the charge rate has gone up 25%.. So smarts does work lol
Solar panels for me, led's in most lights, cfl's in the others.
Sensor lights for outdoors so lights are not on all the time
Solar hot water system with the Booster only cycled on via a timer suiting the time of year
Grey water from shower bath and basins from my upper story diverted into the garden
Waste water from evaporative aircon diverted into the garden
Trees on property when trimmed eventually find their way into my efficient wood heater
Hey, who here knows what a "carbon footprint" is?
Go Ohzone. Top effort. For me it's turned into a bit of a hobby, similar to tweaking your bike. Try and get the most efficiency, nothing wrong with that.
Ohzone have you been on the board a long time ago? That name rings a bell.

Ray...no comment.

Yes its a second coming for me, I was first here late 2000/ early 2001, I am on my 3rd Busa, number two didn't end well Scary
Read below
I rode a pushie to work for a few years rather than using a car , have swapped to LED lights in the house.
I ride bussa or Harley to work when the weather is good to save fuel and try not to buy crap I don't need.

I have and never and will vote green but that doesn't mean I want to pollute.

I have been thinking of getting an electric motorbike , a livewire would be nice if they ever come to market.

Edit, and I am running my VY SV8 Tonner on E85.
