Im after my first track bike...im 6ft 4...was thinking 2005 gsxr 1000 or gen 1 busa..respring ..brakes..but buy one already worked..full exaust etc...but thinking 1000 wont need as much work..hello to all..advice appreciated

2008 - Best year for a gixer. I got one of these so it is a first hand experience Busa way to heavy unless you manage to slimm her down to 185 kilo which a hard task. Just ask Pan.

O yeah! That is an excellent option albeit a bit expensive if you bin it. For that reason a gixxer is a better option financially as it is cheaper to fix, plenty of spares on e-bay and heaps of aftermarket gizmos from dashboards to traction control. And it is build like a Russian tank so it is hard to destroy unlike some other more delicate litre bikes. A good thing with a beemer though is you can try it as they have them as a hire bikes at PI for CSS school which BTW I would very much reccomend since it is so close to you.

I used to own a 06 gixxer great bike but for track might be better going gixxer 750.

I must of know that somehow describing a solid build of it. If you were an Australian origin I would say it is "built like a country shithouse"

the saying I grew up with shifu was

"built like a brick shithouse"

My knowledge and experience is low, but I bought Pans Busa track bike and I love it!
I know theres better bikes, but the track busa is great for me as it helps me push my road Busa better. And its a heap of fun!
Even with all the flash bikes on a ride day, everyone loves the Busa they tell me - rolling thunder!
I reckon the track days are great and any track bike is better than no track bike. When you look around theres a heap of them for sale that people have already prep'd up, and some of the prices are a give away. Some of the 'write-offs' you see advertised look pretty rideable to me? (can you have more than one track bike?).
The new BMW hire bikes at Phillip Island looked sensational and I'm going to hire one of those just for fun - where else are you going to get the chance to wring the neck of one of those?
But I still get a real kick out of the Busa track bike - best thing Ive ever bought!

captain... you should have a different track bike for each class you are THINKING of entering hahahahahahaa

No matter what bike you eventually choose as a dedicated trackie, keep in mind that you will bin it at some stage. Like it or not it is just a part of the whole fun. So choose the bike that is easy/cheap to fix and something you can work on yourself. All the best of luck mate and hope to see you on a track one day. Going to PI on 25th

I look at trackbikes as a throwaway sort of thing,(threw my last one away at lukey heights ;) ) as Shifu said its likely to get dropped, and you want to fix it cheaply, also an older bike like the k6 1000 will let you push a bit harder without as much worry about the cost of dropping it or how it looks if scuffed in handling or at the track
