Rev , can you let us know what you and your mates do as far as arranging flights and accomodation when you go to the Malaysian GP? a bunch of guys have asked me the details as they are considering going over next year as a group.

Yeah Gazz. We book through Jet Set. We have shopped around & they seem to have the best deals consistently.
Book early to give yourselves maximum flexibility on travel times as only Malaysian Airlines fly into KL from Oz. You can go Qantas to Singapore & get the bus but it's more expensive.
I usually stay 7 days in v good 4 star accomodation ( Dorsett Regency) & all up cost is normally $1560 (airfare inc accomodation) The airfare alone was $1050 (ex MEL) inc all taxes & fuel surcharges. Works out to less than $100 per night for accomodation which is not real bad for that standard. There is cheaper accomodation if req'd. Of course you can go up for the weekend which would reduce costs but you have to get in EARLY !!
Group travel also has other advantages with regard to sharing taxi costs if you like to get out on the piss, (etc)
The cheapest transport from the airport to the city (25 minutes) is the KLIA Express Train. (35 ringgits) (Taxi 80)
Taxi travel is by negotiation & not flag fall but is very reasonable in ozdollar terms. Exchange rate was 2.8 RMT/ozdollar.
KL is great destination IMHO & the ozdollar goes a long way.
