Qld has just introduced double demerit points, but all year round. Get busted twice within 12 months for more than 20k over and the second bust attracts double demerit points.
Govt has taken out full page ads explaining the how's and why's.
They state that 68 ppl have lost their lives in speed related accident in last year and they are serious about stopping the carnage.
I note that the Qld road toll in 2005 was 329. That is, only 20% of fatals were speed related. I wonder what they are doing about the causes of the other 80%??? SFA I suspect because there is no revenue in it.
68 fatalities is a tragedy but they'll can't legislate to protect ppl from themselves.
