OK Bill that seems like a fair deal. I think we will call this ride the "All booze busses are bastards" ride.
Sunday the 14th dawned fine and beaut (Vic members take note)..... Oh that's cruel!..... 7 bikes set off from Chez Chopper for the ride up to the Mapleton Motorcycle show which is in the ranges of the Sunshine coast hinterland.
Present were Bill (Busa) Martin (Busa) Brian (Bandit) Andrew (Gixer 750) Mario (CBR 600) and his wife Lorraine on her GSX 600 and last of all yours truly and Rosie on our Busa.
We headed out through Dayboro and up Mt Mee which used to be a fantastic ride until the powers that be imposed a 60 kph speed limit on the mountain and policed it so heavily that many riders give it a big miss these days. I think that is exactly the response that they wanted. Pricks!
Anyway after a quick smoko break near the top of Mt Mee. we rode on through Woodford and turned right through the Peachester twisties and on to Maleny. Great road, great ride.
It was a short ride from there along the ridge line through Montville to Mapleton.
The Motorcycle show is an important one on the Qld. calender and is well supported by entrants and spectators alike.
We stayed for a couple of hours and a couple of beers and headed off back the way we had come. 500 meters from the gate.......number 1 booze bus.....all through OK.
Coming down Mt Mee....number 2 although this was just an over enthusiastic copper on his bike who obviously needed to up his quota for the month. Once again all through OK.
We stopped at the Dayboro pub (top place) and had a cleansing ale before splitting up and going our respective ways home and you wouldn't bloody believe it booze bus number 3. Both sides of the road this time and testing everyone except Bill. I think he must have a charmed life or he knows someone upstairs.
Thankfully we all got through and arrived home safely.
A great group of people, a great day and a fantastic ride spoilt only by the over policing. All in the interests of road safety of course and had no bearing on the fact that there was a popular, well attended motorcycle event on the day.
Yeah right, and big brown bears don't shit in the woods either!
Thanks Blokes and Blokettes, we had a ball.
Regards
Chopper
