I'm guessing that not too many people have had this dilemma.
A nest of ants have taken up residence in my instrument panel. They are dam distracting running around my taco, speedo and computer. They first set up home under my tank cover and I thoughrally cleaned them out but they have now moved. No doubt they are the fastest ants in history! I can't think of any way to get rid of the little bastards without pulling my whole dash apart. Mongrels!!:"> :">

Don't laugh at this suggestion...and I don't know what it'll do to the paint..but try a good-quality surface spray like baygon or mortien, after you've cleaned them out. It might help if you sprinkle a little bit of "Ant sand" in there too (to kill them off) and leave it for a few days..they take it back to the nest and they all die off To the last I will grapple with thee; from Hell's heart I stab at thee; for Hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee.

You could also try a product called Ant Rid which is irrestible to the little fockers. It doesn't work immediately as that's of no use. You need them to take the poison (Boron) back to the nest to eredicate them.

Yes, I did consider these options but they all kill the ants which would mean I would end up with 1000 dead ants in my console....I need a way of coaxing them out, those little bastards!! Every now and then I see one carrying an egg accross my trip meter. What the hell do they think their doing breeding in my bike.:"> Must Find the Queen, Must find the Queen!!

LMAO, that got me. Hey how about showing them the new orange kwaka 1000, that might attract them, or the Queen at least. LOL

I've had them all over the bike and helmet. Now when I get home I clean the bugs off the helmet and bike with a wet chamois. Only take a few seconds. No food for the little buggers, plus I spray the garage floor with Baygon surface spray. Gotta admit they never got into the instument panel, yours must be stunt ants.
Cheers Phil. Riding, not swatting!

get the blower fired up and blast the suckers out

FLICK AND HIS MATES HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING!
To my utter supprise, every last ant has vacated my console.
Maybe it was my 600k ride yesterday that did it or maybe it was my screaming at them to get out but I'm wrapped. I wasn't keen on pulling all my fairings and dash apart to clean them out. I am glad I didn't do the kill aproach though. There's allways a learning in it hey!D">

At least there was only 1, but it made my life hell one morning whilst negotiating peak hour traffic. It wasn't the size of the spider that was disconcerting, more the fact that it would hide for long enough for me to think it had gone, before doing a kamikaze run over my glove, across the gauges and disappear down the side of the fairing. A few minutes later it would reappear from a completely different location. I'd stopped twice to try and coax the bugger out, but it obviously knew it was on a good thing. Occasionally it would just stick one leg out enough to tease me(obviously female) and then disappear again. It's luck finally ran out whilst attempting a sprint across the tank whilst I was stopped at set of lights. The car drivers must have thought I was crazy, weaving and jumping about and swerving around. Last I saw of the spider it was hightailing it down the centre line.

. . . Amazing the hitchhikers you pick up.

G'day
They build nests in nice dark places.
When you let the light in, they move. Just takes a little time to move all the eggs one at a time.
So uncovering the bike and parking in the light would have been enough probably...

About 15 years ago I was riding along in my own little world, when a Huntsman decided to walk accross my visor on the inside, reaction time was amazing!!

The huntsman story brings back memories - and reminds me of how quick my reflexs were - had one suddenly appear on the screen only to be blown off and land around my neck region - drag racing in reverse 100 to 0 in 6 secs to fight the sucker off. Rather the ants.
