I've been reading through the "Jindy or not" poll and listed down all the suggested venues.

Apart from Tassie, the majority of other venues fall into 5 geographic zones within NSW - which I've marked on the attached map.

If we could at least get an indication of the most popular zone, it might help organisers pinpoint a location (or a number of potential locations within the most popular zone).

You can vote for multiple options in the Poll BUT if you have a clear winner (in your mind), just vote for that one. As a maximum, limit your votes to 2 options.

I appreciate your effort there Astro but I think Zone 2 should take in Tamworth, Port Macquarie and Armidale and Zone 1 should be smaller and a bit further North.
That is how the road network fits anyhow.
Thanks.
I would Travel to Zones 1 to 4 without a problem, Zone 5 is always going to be a stretch as it requires a mimimum of 3 days Annual Leave which isnt always easy to get and for those with families cant justify.

As not everyone is going to reply, I think the organisers are better off looking at the numbers from each State and pick a point that is about a days ride for most. Then the members can plan around about 800klms riding on Friday to get there, play on Saturday and return ride on Sunday.

Anyway see what happens from this lot!

come on Busgo we are just trying to get a rough idea of what erea members would travel not wich town and i dont think a extra 100km hear or there would matter

Members numbers
NSW 79
QLD 55
VIC 58
ACT 10
Busgo... yes I thought about which zone Tamworth and Armidale should inhabit but in the end these zones are just for a 'meeting and sleeping' point. To give members an idea of how big a trek they've got to just reach the accommodation.

The route we use during the day on Saturday is a different kettle of fish. I'm still hoping it takes in a run out through Gingers Creek. Speaking of Gingers... theres a lot of accommodation there too. Could fit a lot of people there - bit remote, but great spot.

Zone 3 was basically meant to represent the Hunter valley region. Zone 2 the mid north coast and surrounds, Zone 1 the main northern inland regional centres. Don't worry about the intersects, its only a place to eat and sleep. The riding can go anywhere.
Where are we talking within each zone?

For example, Zone 5 could be anywhere from Jindy (the Snowy Mountains) to Merimbula (the coast).

The location would naturally have a big bearing on my vote.

Tenacious, for now just conceptualise on a general area, we can get into the finer detail later.

As I mentioned in the intro....

Also, I did some messing about on Google Earth. If you're looking to be as fair as possible - considering distance and road networks - the most appropriate mid-point between Brisbane and Melbourne as the crow flies (and considering roads etc), is Dubbo. Nice zoo. You can bring that midpoint closer to the coast and start thinking about places like Wellington, Mudgee, Katoomba even. Dubbo fares well because of the road networks connecting it to other locations. Even works well for our SA members - and our ACT members get a longer run too. (Sorry WA, I know you feel abandoned...)
Why not have it on a rotating basis - each year at a different number (1 - 5) then over a 5 year period everyone gets equal distance to travel?

Hi there,

I think that we should look at going North for once. We have done Jindy to death in my opinion, and since in the past it has been within a week of the Snowy Ride, has resulted in two trips to the Snowy region in a week for me.

The Queenslanders are always asked to put in the big miles, and they have done it. I'm sure the rest of us could return the favour. So I say either Armidale or Port Macquarie.

I'm OK with all of the above. Good excuse to take some time off and enjoy a road trip away from the family. Took 8 days out for Jindy last year and went the longway. Took in a few sights and roads I've wanted to do for a while.
