Anyone in Aus done a 8sec 1/4 on a motor?
With normal mods exhasut etc
No boost or nos or big block.
What would it take stretched, lowered, air shifter.

thats a big ask... personally, i doubt it..
you'd need nos, big block or boost and if you weighted 50kgs, that always helps too...
your basic mods (full system, pc, airfilter) ,Slammed, stretched and air shifter will only get you so far maybe mid 9's and if your a gun rider.. lowish 9's
Anyone else agree?
Greg you are right Marty Searle ran under 9 with a stock motor. Clutch, shifter and arm etc. Not sure how stock is stock tho.
Plenty have claimed 8's on stock motor in the states.
isn't Marty Searl's busa a big block?
Stock length Stock motor I have yet to see it here
the closest I have got is 9.726
I think Leonards new stocky with the new pipe will be knocking on 9.5 very very soon
Yeh the states claim alot..
Tims bike is tuff!
Im pretty sure zx14's in the states have gone 8's with normal mods.
*Shakes fist*
Check the bikeland website..
Tim sold that bike and started building a ZX14. He then sold the 14 and I think quit racing with back troubles.
I dont think a high 8 stock motor is impossible with the right chasis setup, not by any means saying I could do it but I'd be suprised if it hasnt already been done.
Leonard hurry up and run an stock motor 8 to resolve this debate.
Marty went 8.72 all motor, midly worked standard capacity, Sidewinder, Slider, Air shifter and a heap of length, with a 8.23 on a Dry shot. Not sure if its the quickest NA/Nitrous No-bar bike in OZ still, pretty stout numbers just the same!

A few years ago Super Streetbike put an Extended Stock Motored bike down the strip with an experienced lightweight rider netting 8.953@151.757, 60's were the low 1.5's. A wheelie bar bike with the same mods might get there as well.
Certainly the ZX14 and new Bus with there extra cubes will do it easier!
What about spamans bike, should be down to 9.5,s pretty soon as well.Maybe just 9.725 will do.
with factory pro stacks of course.
60 footers at low 1.5's sounds good Shayne. I think with a few more bits a stock motor here may do it. My money's on Legend!
I do 8's, but that's just my reaction time
Dont worry,im the same pan, youd think im some sort of vl sitting at the lights tree
trying to build up boost...
Antz it all depends on what you consider are "normal mods", no two interpretations are the same, a very open area indeed.
I certainly have never heard of anyone in Oz going sub 10 on a stockie, let alone sub 9 with a couple of mods as I see it.
In USA 9.6 straight from crate stockie, fly weight jocky is all important.
Tim's the quickest with a low 9 pass stock lenght, bigblock.
Marty was quite long with slider etc, couldn't even ride it back from a pass, even the 7 sec bikes can be road riden.
low 1.4 60'
3.9-4.0 330'
5.9 @ 125-129mph 660'
8.99 @158-160mph
That should do it.
I don't think it's impossible on a 1299cc (thats the only stock part)motor, but it would be a bit easier on 1397 or zx14.
Think about it, couple of us have run 9.7's (mine on a bike with full exhaust) on bikes that wouldn't scare granny......
Practise and setup are the keys.

I don't, with a good track prep, air etc it won't be long before Simmo or Glenn start knocking on mid 9's without an arm or air shifter!
148mph from Simmo tells me that.
Set your sights a bit higher Grant, otherwise you'll always end up second!
Leonard.
