Riding position is always subjective.
If you are used to a sports bike the busa is super comfortable, if you are used to a tourer they are uncomfortable at first but grow to be comfortable very quickly.
If you are used to a cruiser, you should have got a life a lot earlier.

Hi all might as well introduce myself before i make a comment. Have been reading the boards and getting up to speed with the busa board. (don't like to jump straight in).
I have just bought an new 06 busa and like Busababy have always loved the look of the busa but thought i'd better get experience first, so i bought a Blackbird. I thought that was a great bike then i made the mistake of demoing a busa and... well
what a bike during the wearing in period 500km wasn't aloud to take it over 5k rpm and still had a ball.re. riding position i used to get soar wrist riding the bird which is meant to be more comfortable than busa but i don't get sore on the busa i tend to put less weight on them for some reason i'm 6 '4 and find the riding position great.
plus i like the description that was given that it is docile and doesn't make you feel like you have to go hard if you want to just punt along the busa is happy to do that and well if you want to have a bit of fun
she does that tooi'm 35 3 years experince love the busa and feel very comfortable on it .
so i say go for it take your time to get used to it and ride like everyone is out to get you.
buy the way my busa is blue and silver very nice..
Babybusa i think hearing the war stories of fallen riders is good in that it makes you think and helps you to know what to look out for and how not to make the same mistakes. its good to be aware of the dangers so that you can prepare to avoid them. So that you can continue riding for as long as you want to. It is the best experience.. outside other practises that we won't mention....

Good to see the amount of friendly owners on here. I'll keep the gearbox thing in mind!
One last question for the owners - only one of the bikes I rode had a noisy fuel pump - it whined in sympathy with the revs - as in a higher pitched whine under high revs. It was the 05 model.
The other 05 and both the 00's I rode didn't make the noise.
Is this because the newer model has the pump in the tank?

Sad news though.......
Liability=$500US/year
Comprehensive=$700US/year
Collision=$1500US/year
That's right boys and girls.............$2700US/year in insurance for total coverage. I don't know how anyone can own a Busa with those numbers! I figured I could buy a used one, get Liability only and take my chances, but my friend told me that it is not impossible (or uncommon) to have a total loss accident and not get hurt, so, I'd be lucky and unlucky at the same time if I tried that move.
Any US folks in here with a bead on a good insurance company?

I'd just like to add my thoughts on buying a used bike with regards to the possibility of it being thrashed. I suppose unless you know the previous owners, you'll never know how it was ridden so look at it this way.
Smaller capacity bikes are more likely to have been thrashed than high capacity. A rider of a smaller bike would be up in the high rev range more often trying to keep up with the big bikes which just fly past in top gear with ease at low revs.
Very few Busa riders could honestly say that they ride it to it's full potential every time they throw the leg over would they?
Riding fast is what these things are built for so thrashing would probably mean having the thing bouncing off redline in the first 3 gears constantly.So think about it. What's the probability of a Busa, which has been constantly thrashed throughout it's life, actually reaching 60,000km in one piece?

The one I rode with 23k on it was flogged. It was looser than... well, anyway I'm thinking track, or idiot owner, maybe both.
