There were a total of 60 scopes set up. Saturday night was unbelievable. With my little scope I was able to see the Sculptor Galaxy, which is another galaxy similar to our Milky Way Galaxy. THe Sculptor is 2.5million light years away from Earth.

Here's a couple of pics.
The bottom right pic is "My little scope". So comparing it to some of the others, you can imagine what was visable. And yes, when it comes to telescopes Size DOES Matter........

Damn Bryan...
Next one maybe.
I had a rotten feeling the weather may get good later on.....

Good to hear you saw something anyway

The next big gathering at Snake Valley is not until next March. But there are heaps of small gatherings between now & then at several different venues around Melb.

Around Melb is OK. but not overly spectacular. There's too much ambient light around. If you really want to see the good stuff (other galaxies etc) you need to get out away from the city & away from all that light. The ideal place is where you literally can not see where you are walking at night. mmmmmmm Nice & dark......
