to gen 2 or not 2 - surfabusa - 17-06-2009 I have a slight Dilemma i have a 06 with 30,000 with nice aftermarket acc such as acropovic4 into 2 into 1,pc commander, carbon fibre inserts and screen, chrome tank pads, plus undertail mod, rearsets, braided lines, tre and a heap of other bits an pieces..just about how i want it to look and then problem arrives the local suz dealer throws a curve ball to me stock k8 with 4000km 12 mths rego for 2 upmy bike plus my cooks zzr 250(show room condition with 5000km) for a demo model burnt orange what to do.. what to do by the way they want mine taken back to stock so i keep all the bling except for the pipes just because i dont have the original i need to let him know by tomorrow lunch i love my 06, I have only ever riden gen2 for the first time today for about 15 km mine 06 feels big, sound big and goes like a scolded cat where as the gen2 was quiet, way smoother(not snatchy) felt lighter and smaller more like driving a european sports car compared to a ford xy gt what to do ??? 30,000 v's 4000 km 06 v's 08 my bike the way i like it v's a bog stocker no bike for the wife meaning a life time of doing dishes and constant reminders of what she does for me ![]() ![]() RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - black13 - 17-06-2009 mate , all i can suggest is to go with what you feel is best, just because you can get a great trade deal , doesn't mean its the best for you, read through your post(mine 06 feels big, sound big and goes like a scolded cat), i too have pondered this but i'm happy with my gen1 busa, but i would love a gen2 aswell. Your passion & heart will tell you whats the best choice. Either way you can't loose cause after all it's a busa cheers RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - Jaffabusa - 17-06-2009 Mate, doesn't sound like a good deal to me.You might get a new one for what the 2 bikes are worth, plus the bling will not fit the gen 2. So I reckon stick with your bike till you get a better deal. RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - GCBusa - 17-06-2009 Hey Alan, The deal sounds like a 'good' one, but not a 'great' one? As Jaffa says, the bling of the 06 won't transfer. You'll probably want to add a few extras to bring the GenII up to what you want so it matches the GenI?? (especially pipes) If the dealer is that keen to do the biz, I'm sure he'll extend the deadline for you and if you want another look/play with mine (I've added some extras since the last time you saw it) I'm happy to team up somewhere. The GenII is more refined but does lack a little 'soul'.? RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - bioDog - 17-06-2009 I would not sell that bike RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - bigfoot - 17-06-2009 i think keep the gen 1 al its the best choice!! as you said to me i don't like the rear of the k8 tail! your choice either way a busa is a busa!! RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - Raging - 17-06-2009 Yeah I agree, that would be a great deal if it was for a brand spanker...but for a K8 with 4000 clicks its just a good deal...and a great deal to the dealer ![]() I rode a couple of gen 1's, and preferred the gen2 for a few little things, namely a bit smoother, and seemed a bit more agile too. But as stated, at the end of the day, its what you like? Do you like the colour scheme etc etc. Maybe it might be worth a few phone calls to some other dealers and see what they would offer for the same trade? RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - Gnarbunkle99 - 17-06-2009 Ain't no dilema, doesn't sound ike a good deal. RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - BLACKZOOK - 17-06-2009 The gen 2 is over rated if your happy with the bike you have stick with it. RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - NEMESIS - 18-06-2009 "european sports car compared to a ford xy gt" iD go gt every time ;) Let us know what you decide anyhow... RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - ROD - 18-06-2009 no deal they are trying to rush you for a start ![]() RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - simmo - 18-06-2009 Test the market elsewhere if unsure Make the deal, Former Gen1 lover who has been converted to Gen2 ![]() Now I'm waiting for the Gen3 to come out ![]() RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - CarbonBusa - 18-06-2009 Tell the dealer he is dreaming ![]() I personally would not do it as you could sell ya bling off & then the K6 & I think you would only need to add minimal $$$ to get a bargan cash deal But it depends whether you want to stuff around to save $$$ or just want to get ya bum on a gen II as quick & easy as possible & loose $$$ In a few months the K10 will be released (so your new jaffa would be 2 models down) There should be some good K9 deals towards the end of the year ![]() RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - Hutch99 - 18-06-2009 (17-06-2009, 08:13pm)surfabusa Wrote: I have a slight Dilemma ... look for a '99 Red/Black... itll feel like a HT Monaro ![]() but seriously tell the dealer to get F***T RE: to gen 2 or not 2 - 09Fatboy - 18-06-2009 i'm surprised , usually dealers go in hard with trade in's and offer very little, at least in my experience. It's all gonna come down to how bad you want the gen 2. As a guess i'd say 06 busa worth's $12500 , zzr250 worth $5500 , demo k8 worth $15,500 r/away that = minus $2500 if you take the dealers offer as opposed to selling privately. |
