I rememeber doing a comprehensive vision test for work years ago and they demonstrated the blind spots in your eye where the retina attaches to the optic nerve. Pretty amazing / concerning that you have a spot in your field of vision that is permanently blind.

RE: Why you cant be seen - BikerBoy - 28-12-2011

I guess it goes along similar lines to a study that I read a while back that explained how a motorist travelling behind a motorcycle in traffic
for a reasonable period of time can become completely blind to the fact that the bike is even there and only see the car in front of the bike
and the cars to the left and right of them. People tend to shift their focus ahead of the bike and once a person starts to do it, the bike and
rider all but dissapears.

When I did an advanced riding course yrs ago they said that when riding on a bike you have to keep moving from left to right in the lane your in every 30 seconds otherwise the cars might not see you. Pi_thumbsup

What a crap. Did anyone experienced a car dissapearing into a thin air while riding? Lets dont give them any excuses. Pay the f%$ing attention instead of texting, talking on the mobile, putting the make-up on, shaving, eating breakfast, reading newspaper, checking the street direrctory etc. etc. When driving just drive Biker

This is what I think! How many of you guys motorcyclists have actually had a crash while driving a car with a motorcycle?
Me Zero.
What about the rest of you?
If you ride a motorbike you look out for motorbikes don't you ?
So there is no excuse for a non motorcyclist to crash into you....
But sometimes crap does happen.
The biggest problem is that the driver will always say I didn't see him or her Honest Officer.
I remember back when I was 18 riding my 750 Honda with 2 mates and a car pulled out of a drive way and I hit the car first and then one of my mates hit my bike and the other mate ended up going up onto the foot path. Now the driver said I didn't see them Officer? How the hell cant someone see 3 motorbikes?
The I didn't see him or her Officer should be of no excuse.
If they made a law banning THE I DIDN'T SEE THE MOTORCYCLIST things might be different.

RE: Why you cant be seen - Aussie Steve - 29-12-2011

What "I didn't see him/her/them" means is "I wasn't paying attention"

Yep but even car drivers don't see other cars, so we got no hope
The only difference is a bike rider takes more care driving a car looking out for bikes because we all know the score, never trust a car around you Pi_thumbsup

Perhaps the truth they should be speaking would be "I didn't LOOK officer"
