It will turn faster but might be prone to a tank-slappers so take it easy and make sure the steering damper is fully funcional. Also hope you have checked the clearance for the full travel of suspension or there will be a nasty surprise when you hit a bump while braking ![]() RE: lowered 18mm - pan - 22-01-2013 +1 what Shifu said. May be worth getting some heavier springs in there! RE: lowered 18mm - CaptainRob - 23-01-2013 Thanks, I appreciate your advice, and knowledge. I have tried to keep the same amount of 'trim' front to rear, and took some accurate measurements before and after. I made up a rough stand with a cheap laser light and some reference points stuck on so I am hoping to keep the same proportions fore and aft. I overhauled and refilled the steering damper and forks but haven't changed the springs nor rear shock. Have taken the horn off to make more clearance ( and stuck a replacement under the hump ) and it looks like it should be ok? The bike was in pretty bad shape (lying on it's side under a tree!), and had some home made links which raised the rear more than stock so I brought it back to stock to start with but it seemed slow to turn in. The way I have it now I can reset it all back to stock pretty quickly. I would like it to turn in a bit quicker, but scared shitless of tank- slappers! I have really enjoyed playing around with the options, but if it turns out too scary you'll be the first to know and contact. I booked a track day at Phillip is so I'm hoping that will help me sort it out a bit more. Thanks again, Rob RE: lowered 18mm - Dale - 23-01-2013 (23-01-2013, 08:13am)CaptainRob Wrote: .. I'm the other way round! Yep, there's a story there! Been ridden in the sand a lot, off road so everything was packed with grease/sand an flogged out. It was painted red by the owner but was originally copper, so it was good to give it new life. He was a pretty dangerous looking dude, but it transferred through vicroads ok, and even had a (dodgy) roadworthy certificate. But nothing left on brake pads, drive bearings gone and no lights - pretty funny at the time. But it's looking better now! RE: lowered 18mm - pete - 23-01-2013 hey rob, i just got my suspension done recently with heavy front springs with the forks at stock height but had the rear raised with new links fitted to the rear shock, the bike turns nicely in tight corners and the front wants to stay down a lot more under heavy acceleration. jat. RE: lowered 18mm - Corpsedealer - 17-02-2013 Hi all, New to site. Being a short skinny lad I am looking at droping my 2012 busa around 20mm I have raised the bars already and was wandering wether to buy the fixed hole dog bones or the threaded units? Any thoughts or does anyone know of probs with either types? I have Soupys links on both my bikes and they are pretty good quality. I think you need to spend the money on the links and get good quality ones because they are pretty critical and under quite a load. But there's a lot of people on the forum with a lot more detailed knowledge than me! RE: lowered 18mm - Corpsedealer - 17-02-2013 Thanks CaptainRob, Ile get savage to do the install when I get the 1st service done on friday. Just a site question, How do I post up pics RE: lowered 18mm - adamski - 17-02-2013 (17-02-2013, 04:21pm)Corpsedealer Wrote: Thanks CaptainRob, Brocks Racing has some good ones too. RE: lowered 18mm - Fester - 17-02-2013 Hi I'm behind my motorbike with 30 mm reduced by dogbones In the front I lowered it 35 mm, resulting better control. Well my forks I let you go through the yokes, result I can not use the original handlebar holder. This I then resolved by placing clipons from LSL |
