IMO I don't see a problem with this law... they are only supposed to be targetting riders with colours on
we all know what law says and what cops do are different things LOL

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Aussie Steve - 08-10-2013

While the people in question have been asking for this for years it is almost an infringment on basic freedoms...where will it end and who decides what constitutes an outlaw?...I cannot see the plods we have being able to show any degree of self control and what happens interstate usually spreads...come to think of it dont the 'bikies' just piss off somewhere else?

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Zrex1200 - 08-10-2013

Don't see why it's just bikes, thats discrimination.

Why not Lawn Bowls Teams, Footy teams blah, blah, blah.

May as well change Queensland to Copland & be done with it....

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - big kev - 08-10-2013

It's an infringement on our basic civil wrights to live freely with out fear or persecution . Theres alot of members here with a lightweight busa jacket with all the patchs all over it so if there's 3 or more out on a group ride are we to be targeted ???

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Batfink - 08-10-2013

I don't see it as they are aiming at the bikes, more the "bikies".. if a footy or lawns bowling team, that was easy to discern due to their "uniform", was doing everything the bikies have been lately then the government would be doing the same thing....
I can remember when some countries banned the grouping of certain soccer club fans due to the behaviour that came about with rioting. It was just using an easily recognisable way to pick out one type of threat from a multitude of others.

As long as it stays with a focus on a "type" of bike rider and doesn't spread into general riders I have no issue. but give the gov an inch and they will take the paddock

Lol2 I'm not taking on the lawns bowling team or the soccer mums & I'm sure the Cops aren't game also Coolsmiley

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - BikerBoy - 08-10-2013

So what happens when 3 cops ride down the street together?

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Kendo - 08-10-2013

Given compared to car drivers that motorbike riders are a minority, it sounds alot like discrimination don't it.
That's how it would be seen by any other minority group that was singled out.

What are the grounds of reasonable suspicion?

Where are the PC bleeding heart defenders of all now?

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Batfink - 08-10-2013

I really hope the gov throws the biggest book they can at any minority group that is willing to openly be violent, intimidate and threaten the general public... Not to mention deal drugs, racketeering, extortion, murder (all of which have yet to be proven in court but we all know they do)
Return the streets to those of us that are willing to be part of the towns we ride in...

The colour wearing leather fags can make a choice... Wear their flags and go to jail or leave the club... Both sound great to me

I turned them down 25 years ago and happier for it

Totally agree.
I may not have made the meaning of my post clear.
Wasn't supporting or defending those activities. I was referring to the possible use/abuse of any laws as such being directed at anyone undeserving of scrutiny, linked only by a loose association, being the act of riding a motorcycle in a group.
If you are involved in criminal activity then you can expect no civil rights.
My concern is that what often happens is when laws and legislation are misconstrued or abused by those with other issues or agenda that the rights of the innocent can be in peril.

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Zrex1200 - 09-10-2013

Well maybe I am jaded by my interaction with police on the roads over the decades.
Not bothering to pull up speeding cars, making an extra effort to pull over motorcyclists.
Extra effort to single out bikes into RBT, let cars either side go.
Pulled over more often by patrol cars for an RBT, don't happen in the car.
No I have no faith they will handle their new powers in the correct manner.
You can be DAMN sure they will pull us over, not just bikies in colours, its just more of those points we are told don't exist for them to assist their climb up the ladder.
They did not need these powers, they have enough & they do not enforce them, they are power drunk & addicted, so like all of us they just want more power.
They banned the wearing of bikie colours in public already, do they enforce it, NO, just ask for more power & scare people into thinking they need them.
Fact is the bikies themselves have changed, it is little about riding bikes as more middle eastern & asian criminals move into these groups with their excessivly violent cultures.
WTF, pass the cyanide pills around, where going to the dogs or pigs if you prefer.
End rant .. for now.

I wish that were true kev but their is very little written laws in Australia on civil rights it's mainly up to each state to handle.

time for a protest ride.....ive been saying it for years. a nice revolution to keep the pollies on there toes!

RE: ride in groups of threes your nicked - Pix - 09-10-2013

Pretty sure the article reads "three or more outlaw motorcyclists riding together", key word OUTLAW. I bet law enforcement have data bases on clubs and colours that belong to "outlaw" clubs.

A bunch of blokes riding in mismatch leathers on sport bikes shouldn't draw attention from the po-po.

Stewart even said "We make no excuses and I'm sorry for any inconvenience to the general public but if they've done nothing wrong they've got nothing to fear from our people", probably the same as being pulled up for an RBT.

Why protest something designed to lower crime rates and make pubs and clubs safer for everyone else.
