Stone in airbox hole - BEAU - 28-10-2013
Just serviced my air filter and noticed there is a hole below the air filter just in front of the left hand intake on the Genll that has had a tar covered road rock blocking it and I'm not sure how long it's been there. Can a qualified person inform me what this hole dose and if it's been affecting anything in any way?

How about:
Take rock out :
Bike goes faster - leave rock out.
Bike goes slower - put rock back in.

in the old days the hole was for
carbs if they leaked fuel back into the air box
or to stop oil pooling in the bottom from excessive
blowby from the engine breather,
on the busa, no idea.

I was thinking this Simmo as I knew I couldn't be anything to do with airbox pressure. Just couldn't see where the hold lead to and really wanting to know if it affects A/F ratio really

Maps and inputs to the ecm control the A/F if you blocked it the ecm will read it as richer on the exhaust side via the O2/lamda sensor and then lean the fuel off accordingly across the map to compensate.
So if you block it nothing will happen, other than using less fuel over many tanks and you'll not be letting condensed or other water excape via the hole.
If you leave it, it will continue mixing its A/F at the rate its supposed to without the water "clouding" the issue, or causing different problems down the track.
