Busdriver's Normanville Experience - Busdriver - 21-11-2013

I had a great road trip.

Two days of twisties from Canberra to Tallangatta to Melbourne. Even with the rain.

A rest day in Melbourne to wash the bike, dry out, and catch up with the parents.

On Friday I met up with Corbin (Vic), Nathan (Qld), and Tony (Tas) about half hour out of Melbourne. Diverted at Melton to Bacchus Marsh due to a fatal head-on crash at Melton, it was then up to Ballarat for fuel so as to line up appropriate fuels stops within range of Corbin's bike. It was here that a Mercedes driver tried to run over Corbin's helmet. We stopped at Horsham and Bordertown for fuel and food. With a last fuel stop at Mt Barker I led the way following Karen's GPS instruction. Karen f****d us up at Morris Road by not telling us to do a quick right after that left turn. We got there in the end.

Saturday....well it was a good day out. Lots and lots of corners and some very nice scenery. Karen made up for her Friday mess-up by getting me and a small group relatively back on track after some corner-marker issues. Not all of us ride like Casey....some of us are more like...Mr Bean maybe. After the ride was dinner and raffles at the pub. I had a good night. And crashed when I got back to the cabin.

Sunday morning I was stirred by the early departure of some Hayabusa. I felt like I should have been departing with them for some reason. It felt strange not to be getting in the saddle again for a long ride.

I had a leisurely day around Normanville and Yankalilla visiting the car show.

Monday morning saw Batfink, Mungman, Revhead and myself depart around 5:30 am. Up to Mt Barker for a quick air stop before making our way up the freeway and headed towards Melbourne. Mungoman and Revhead left Tony and I at Tailem Bend for they were Dubbo bound. An uneventful ride saw Tony and I reach Melbourne well in time for Tony to catch the boat back to Tassie.

Tuesday saw me leave Melbourne about 11am for the ride back home. Couldn't leave early as it was my Dad's 83rd birhtday plus their wedding anniversary. The winds were up when I left but by the time I got to Glenrowan the winds had eased. Just south of Yass on the overhead message board I see that the Barton Highway is closed due to (another) car accident. So I had to detour from Murumbateman to Gundaroo and come into Canberra from the Sydney side. Bugger...because the longer route timed my arrival to coincide with rain for the last 5 klm.

The Busa ran a treat except for blowing the low beam globe somewhere north of Gundagai. Total klms for my trip 3,339. My Busa now has 110,043 on the clock.....all mine.

Good to catch up with all old and new.

I had the Busa Burger, it even pulled me up close to exploding, but I sent back an empty plate :)
I then proceeded to enjoy a lovely rib eye fillet and veg at the Normanville Hotel for tea :)
FULL AS A GOOG!
What a great weekend.
Oh and I got home and have lost 6kg....... hahahahhaa
