Alloy Sub Frame. - imagunna - 23-03-2007 Any one looking for an alloy sub frame? There is one advertised on UK eBay at the moment. Says used ,but in good conditioned. Buy it now option for 25 pound, think thats about $63.00 Aus. Doesn't quote sell worldwide or offer a freight cost to Aus. Probably worth an enquiry if any one interested. Now you know as much as me so am not responsible for item, only trying to help, but sometimes info can be bad, and buying sight unseen. ![]() RE: Alloy Sub Frame. - Gnarbunkle99 - 23-03-2007 Steel ones don't have a reputation for bending or snapping welds, for the weight difference, better off going with steel. RE: Alloy Sub Frame. - Gnarbunkle99 - 24-03-2007 Extra bracing for insurance sounds good, any leads on where they usually fail? RE: Alloy Sub Frame. - pan - 24-03-2007 Right under the seat. I've seen cracks anywhere from right on the front end to about 20cm back. RE: Alloy Sub Frame. - kawasuki - 24-03-2007 Were do u brace RE: Alloy Sub Frame. - BLACKZOOK - 25-03-2007 kawasuki Wrote:Were do u brace i'm interested to see the brace installed by others. The only one I could find was a small strut down to the pillion peg mount but it seemed ineffective. Didnt someone post a picture of a weld in pressed alloy gusset here at one time??? RE: Alloy Sub Frame. - BUSGO - 25-03-2007 I have a brace on my 99 bike. 100,000 k+ and still no signs of cracking or flexing. I will post up a photo later today. It is a piece of deformed bar bent around the outside edges of the subframe, directly above the battery terminals. Previous owner's invention.... |
