RE: BLING !!!! - Rocketrod - 01-04-2007 Must be the weekend for doing grills.I did mine yesterday(well one side anyway) and i used silastic.Cant see why this wouldnt hold, and i dont think the temperture is a problem for it,i mean its made to take your engine heat. Also did a grill for the radiator and oil cooler, man its lookin hot.If i get my brakes back this week,i hope to have the thing up and running this easter weekend. ![]() RE: BLING !!!! - bandit - 01-04-2007 Rocketrod Wrote:Must be the weekend for doing grills.I did mine yesterday(well one side anyway) and i used silastic.Cant see why this wouldnt hold, and i dont think the temperture is a problem for it,i mean its made to take your engine heat. Also did a grill for the radiator and oil cooler, man its lookin hot.If i get my brakes back this week,i hope to have the thing up and running this easter weekend. Hey Rod how hard is the radiator grill to do? Just make sure the grill is a nice snug fit,or its gunna fall out,and make a cardboard template first. ![]() The radiator tanks have a lip on them and the curve of the rad holds the mesh in place. Just cut a template out of cardboard then cut the mesh to suit. I also put a gentle curve in the mesh to make it fit more easily; just don?t go to far with it. With the oil cooler just cut the mesh a little long and fold the ends around the original guard and your done. If you have any problems let me know, but it's preety simple. RE: BLING !!!! - Gassick - 02-04-2007 Mick Hone told me that he used silastic and said he has never had a problem with bits coming away from heat or moisture. RE: BLING !!!! - 1hotbusa - 02-04-2007 Just an idea, the Sikaflex takes a little bit of time to cure so if you want to pin the mesh inserts in place so you can work the sikaflex into them then use some hot melt glue. Just a couple of spots, and it cures in minutes. Then you can work the sikaflex into the join. The reason we want to use sikaflex is that there is a bit of flexibility in the glue, use a glue that sets hard and the insert will vibrate out. RE: BLING !!!! - Heidi1 - 02-04-2007 Dude, don't use the hot glue, it melts at engine temp. Someone from the Canberra Club (me) has bloody hot glue running down the outside of my faring. We used the hot glue to pin and sikaflex to glue it down but the hot glue ran. RE: BLING !!!! - mybb - 02-04-2007 I used clag on mine, made it myself from corn flower and water. Working a treat.. |
