Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - crazzy54 - 04-11-2007 Well well well.,..... took my nice new bike out today. Parked it, put the disk lock on so no one would pinch it. ....... Guess what I forgot to do....... I rolled the bike back wards to move off and CRUNCH!... the disk lock has taken a chunk out of my front guard. I almost cried. I'm not going to use the dam lock again though. Lucky I didnt do what I did on my old bike...... Launch it, with the lock still on.... So, where is the best place to get a replacement guard. I had a look on ebay.... anyone know anyone? I am so angry at myself. ![]() RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - BUSGO - 04-11-2007 I did the same once on a Triumph and fixed it with super glue. It was a clean break in the plastic and it lasted for over a year while I still had the bike. The repair was almost invisible. I now have a computer technician's static strap fixed to the lock and I attach the wrist band to the clutch lever when it is on the bike. You can't forget it is on then. You can get a new mudguard from Suzuki, one from the wreckers or a carbon fibre one if it has to be replaced. We were discussing this at the expo today.... RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - crazzy54 - 04-11-2007 Thanks busgo, I am still beating myself about it... Ive been so careful. I could leave it, but I cant glue it, the plastic deformed a little. The cable thing is a good idea. Thanks RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - crazzy54 - 04-11-2007 does anyone have any contacts for good suppliers/wreckers? im in the Campbelltown area of Sydney. RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - LOAFIE - 04-11-2007 Metropolitan wreckers at silverwater seem to have the most busa parts in Sydney RE: Where to get busa parts? Bet you won't do that again. I purchased a disk lock strap from MCAS at Parramatta. Without it I probably would have done the same thing. If the damage is not too severe it may be repaired and repainted. See John at Mototech Smithfield for a free quote, does good work. RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - Volvi - 06-11-2007 have never used a disc lock, wonder how many thousands I have saved myself so far? RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - rob - 07-11-2007 you won't be the last to do that, i'm sure more than a few dozen have done this, i did it twice- once when i first got it and luckily the second time was before it was repaired... don't feel too stupid, just learn from it. cheers Rob RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - The Ant - 07-11-2007 Yep, us Victorians dont seem to need putting those things on down here. Up in Sydney I hear its nearly compulsary to use one. RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - xhiler8r - 07-11-2007 i use a grip lock there is no way of going anywhere until it is removed http://www.grip-lock.com/ RE: Where to get busa parts? RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - crazzy54 - 09-11-2007 No still havent got one, the damage isnt too bad, but I would still like to get one........ RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - kawasuki - 09-11-2007 I have one but u would have to get it painted. Its been used as a mould, no dings in it. RE: Where to get busa parts? (front guard) - crazzy54 - 10-11-2007 Thanks Kawasuki, I'll let you know, Am looking into importing one from the states, with the Aussie $ looking so good at the moment, it seems like a fair option. But I will get back to you, thanks..... |
