Just as an interesting side note to that video, I had a close look at one of the new NSW police Yamaha FJR1300's today. The bimmers are being phased out.

Didn't they use FJR's before the beamers were brought in?

They went from bimmers (K series) to Honda ST1100's for awhile before they found the panniers would come off at speed then went back to the newer bimmers but now they're running FJR's & also trialling ZX14's.
BMW would speed rate the panniers but the bikes were down on speed & power for much other than escort work.
The reviews I've heard on the big Yam's is they aren't slow & in the right hands they're no slouch in the twisties.

Yeah I was looking at one myself actually, when I was considering having 2 bikes, keeping my Rocket III and having something else.

They are a nice bike, they have a good few creature comforts too. There is one at Yamaha in Townsville that has been sitting there for ages, full panniers etc. Valued around $26k I think and they are trying to palm it off for around $17-18k mark now...would be a great buy if thats what you wanted.
