Ok this shift light is really pissing me off now I changed the positive to a big fat orange wire re did the earth again and also redid the tacho wire again all wiring has been soldierd to each other except the earth which had a eyelet connection on the end and earthed out to the frame where the clutch cable bracket is and the light still resets itself on idle
My bike idles just a touch under 1000 rpm could this be the cause or am I ripping this light out Regards Bill

Bill,
I initially tried earthing to the point you used and had similar trouble. Either run an earth wire from the battery or run both power and earth from the accessory wire plug in the loom under the trim panel on the right side.

Hook the new battery in series from the shift light to your pecker. That should get your left foot moving quicker. Bruce

Hey Bill also check battery connections including earth, and also rectifier / regulator operation as light will reset itself any and everytime it see's a voltage change (up or down) have been running both busas with these over 12 months now and never had a false call on either since fitting. But stress if it see's a voltage change in any way it will reset. Put one on an R1 also yesterday and worked straight up no probs.

I couldnt really rev the thing at midnight last night to check everything so when I got home this arvo did a few tests and bugger me drunk the tacho was spacking out it would stay on 4k for about 15secs and then wham off the clock just the tacho not the motor so I pulled it apart again and resoldierd the Tacho wire again and problem fixed so looks like the hammer is put away for now
Thanks Pete and Bruce for putting up with my hassels I owe ya's Regards Bill
