Harsh or unfair as it may sound I found that parking any type of vehicle in a supermarket, shopping centre or busy commercial area/s turns it into "public property" unless its in your line of sight at all times, its a matter of when not if it will get damaged.I found a trolley scratch on the Merc 18 inches long, luckily a nice Aboriginal woman who was shopping across the road told me who it was and all ended well for me,for them it was a different story, first dealing with a wog with anger management issues than forking out $6,800 to get it painted!!!!
I would claim on the insurance as a last resort especially if the damage is minimal or cheaper than the actual access fee as it will only be on your record as a "not at fault claim"!!!!
I see alot of thes claims coming through the paint shop and in no uncertain terms the accessor usually says that they should have done it on their own without involving them as it will eventually bite them in the ass with the premium.
