tankslapper ....

had a bit of a moment on the weekend, out for a ride in increasingly inclement weather and deteriorating road surface,
didn't seem that bad tho, was loving the grip from the pr3's and feeling pretty confident,
rolling up to the crest of a hill, turning into a left hand sweeper, just starting to roll on the throttle to accelerate out and .... weeeeeeeeee
back wheel lit up, tail went sideways, legs and feet ragdolled off the pegs, trousers got a big brown stain ..
but somehow managed to keep it together, steer into the slide, straighten out the wobbles and keep it shiny side up.
remembered my mate was behind me so did a uturn and went back to warn him, waved him down just before he got to the corner of doom and stopped to have a look, road surface was pretty shiny but otherwise there was nothing to indicate why the back end stepped out like it did, tyres are about 2k old, had checked the pressure just before we left, was aware the roads were wet so wasn't being excessive with the throttle ... no idea really?
equal parts bad luck that I had a slide and good luck that I got it under control I guess !!
good times eh?

Dang! Scary stuff indeed.

I did the opposite of that on my 2nd ride on the new busa, laid it into a nice flat left-hand sweeper, and the front tire broke loose in the apex. Fully commited. Was staring at pavement when it caught and on my merry way. Had to stop and breath deeply on that one. Slide marks on the rubber had it to very edge the contact patch.

With the tour participants, we constantly harp on entry speed and lane position.

Wasn't following my own ride rules that day. :(

Wrong place at the right time! I dropped my Roadstar 4 mths ago, on a 90 deg corner in the main st of Kilcoy. 30 klm, doing nothing stupid, and hit an oil puddle. Bye Bye front end. Tried 3 saves with opposite lock, but over the highside and ended up with a split kidney, broken tooth, and 4 broken bones. Just goes to show you. Don't play if you aren't willing to pay. Busauser

new busa, but what are pr3 tyres'

cure 1-fit OHLINS STEERING DAMNER
steering head n front tank mounts

cure 2- fit PIRELLI DIABLO ROSSO CORSA

cure 3-when on a busa remember it may be a heavy bike ,no way will the front end lift, yep thats what it did to u,I've done it,crests of hills'back off the loud grip, then ease on the loud grip once your
over

cure 4-spare a thought for the killer bridgestone tyres they fit to busa's , these tyres can whipp up a rear end tank slapper, third time I replaced the tyres straight away,

no more tank slapper.

cure 5-adjust your suspension,spring pre load,compression n rebound,to suit your weight

now go out there n enjoy riding that busa'safely watch your licence

Inclement weather, shiny rough surface and a touch too much roll on perhaps?

What slightest help would an Ohlins steering damper be? Oh, for the rear end tank slapper................is that a slapper with a big rear end?
