Well........we told them but would they listen? Lethal to motorcyclists & of little or no benefit to others.
I was travelling to & from Albury the past few days & while passing Seymour I couldn't help but notice at least 6 (six) 400 metre sections of wire rope barrier completely smashed with the wires ripped from their tether points and sagging between supports onto the ground, providing no protection at all to any road user.
It seems that they can only stand one impact & then they require MAJOR rectification work to re tether cables & re tension the entire system. What a massively expensive & recurringly expensive excercise in futility all that is. With the old Armco, you just bounced off & kept on trucking. Well, we told them so.........
