Would depend on the design, if the extension slipped inside the tube it would be stronger than a butted join
braced would also add some security.

I wouldn't buy any welded swingarm unless it came with a certifying bit of paper. Without it, anything happens & you're stuffed. If you die insurance won't pay out to the surviving family.

It depends on the welder!

Depends what you are looking for, longer extensions to replace existing factory ones????
You should look for a weld in extension that is slipped inside the swingarm rail by at least 25mm and should be a good fit, (not moving around when in the rail before welding) Minimum Alloy grade of 6061T6 aluminium. You will be lucky to get a certificate for the weld in extensions as there is no regulation on aftermarket "weld in extensions" and are to many variables eg 3rd party weld quality, custom application. You maybe able to get a material certificate to say the part is manufactured from 6061T6. Make sure it is welded by a reputable TIG welder. All well and good to get things on the cheap but with something like these please be aware that you get what you pay for with these parts, trust me i have seen some great ones and also others that would only be good for paper weights. I can put you in contact with a guy that manufactures quality weld in extensions + welding and they are here in Sydney. Cheers, Matt |
