You can't always get your hand up in time though in corners etc, and it can be taken as a wave by some if it's not entirely seen. If you flash your lights I feel that there's no mistaking what there trying to do. Warn about anything ahead that you need to be aware of.

On the contrary if a Harley rider is coming I flash like crazy...esp when there is nothing there...they spend the next 10 k's wondering what the hell is just round the next bend!

Yes you do have a point. I guess the answer to all our possible speeding fines is ride a Harley...the advantages are two fold. (1) it breaks down so often there is less chance of getting done in the first place and (2) When it does run the only spot you're likely to get an infringement notice is by schools or shopping malls. You also stand the chance of consistantly being pulled over for environmental reasons and drug/firearms checks.
