well Jay, I dont want to get to political here. But I can tell you this I was dissapointed to let alone all those that spent a year preparing for the event. I wud normally never give in to terrorists demands or threats however......in this case there was hard intelligence of many cells ready to attack participants all along the terrain, kill some and kidnap others. The intelligence came from those involved in the killing of that french family of four after being caught. So the organisers really had no choice, security for its contestants were paramount in theyre minds and they rightly called it off. Its the times we live in unfortunately. Perhaps they shud consider a new route on the european continent, there are plenty rough terrain in mongolia and parts of russia as done by those 2 brit riders doing the long way round trip as I dont see this threat going away in any hurry.
