apparently this is used on pent 4 or more cpu's.
Before installing Gimp phot editor it suggested to disable it in bios settings.
I have read that there are issues with multi threading and best to not enable it...
Any techs know any more??

Multi threading allows the processor to work on more than one calculation at a time.
It SHOULD speed multi tasking of the computer up. I.E. allow you to run many programs at once - but you need to set your priorities in each programs properties and tell the computer how to handle it when in background mode.
Sounds like the photo editing tool you are using is power hungry and doesn't want to share.

thanks Busgo I'll put it back on.
Didn't like the looks of Gimp anyway...stick with ps pro
GIMP = the linux version of photo editor for windows.... as for multi threading - older programs dont run correctly on them due to the way they are coded...
the new coreduo 2 & quad cores will have more of an issue then a standard pent 4 chip that has multi threadding
