Speeding ticket - Who to contact ??
#31
Was it 119kmh after he took 2km off or before? By legislation cops have to take off 2kmh for every ticket in Aus. If its 119kmh he may have clocked you at 121kmh and may have had a 120kmh rule in his head. It sucks that you were doing 9kmh over and got pinged, most cops that I know go for a 20kmh over rule, but if their bosses are on to them about giving out tickets, then you'll get done.

From what I know getting out of the spray isn't a good reason to exceed a posted speed limit, but it is usually a good one to the cop on the side of the road.

Good luck with the ticket and I do hope you get off, its times like these I wish you could ask the cop what was he thinking?

Hey Dale, just a query on how you went about it....
Did you ask for them to reconsider the penalty based on your driving record and situation?
Did you specifically ask for a warning?
Did you ask for the citation to be cancelled?

I have found a lot of people, that I know, fail in this type of endeavour because they end up demanding a full cancellation of ticket based on what ever reasons they can dream up. They forget that there is an accepted evidence that you broke the law and no-one but the courts (and head of police) can rip up that ticket which means their demand cannot be done and they leave no room for a compromise like a warning.

Nice letter. Could have written it myself as I believe the best way out of the hands of the law is the yes sir no sir routine. Worked well in brisbane 30 years ago when a bit of lip would get you driven to the holland park station with a shirt full of cracked ribs. O those were the days.

I will keep all that in mind if I ever get a ticket I think I can wriggle out of though I won't be using MY driving record LOL.
