Shortening the tug boat!
#16
Ouch, Rocketman! Must have a look at mine.
Just pulled the bike apart and never noticed that. Maybe you have the model with the thicker crust!
Done 15000 klms since the new chain/sprocket etc, never had a problem. Ping Rev???? Any probs with the cheesecake sub frame/cam chain model?
Cheers, Phil.

Yeah it was just one link Rev,and i think you might have been right about the screw comming loose as i couldnt tell because there was no head left on the screw,it was ground away.:">

Rocket , even if the axle was right up as mentioned there is still clearance on the LHS. About 2mm from the head of the screw. On the RHS the brake caliper hanger will hit though--I'll post a pic to illustrate later on-- this mod only needs to be done if the axle is going to be moved up in conjunction with elongating the slots in the S'arm

yip its a start , along with dropping the forks in the triple clamps--give it a go and make up your own mind--- a bit subjective with a cheesecake tug

What happens when you get a new chain? Can you shorten straight away or would you need to do:

a. Ride a bit and stretch the new chain first?

b. Do Gazza's mod and machine the swing arm for extra range of forward movement?

Talked to a ZX12R owner on the weekend. He'd done the same thing. It seems all the press about the ZX not turning in as quick might've been true. (fancy that ) -Reefton Tortoise-
